B = bumpage, which is a popular urban myth around here. The theory is that you pull (i.e.,inquire about) your credit reports yourself...each "pull" bumps the oldest pull off your reports. If those old pulls are derogatory, then eventually your FAKO credit scores improve because the derogs are gone.

The truth is...all inquiries are required by law to stay on your reports for 2 years. The law doesn't say how many of those you have to be able to see when you pull your reports. Therefore, all those inquiries are still on your credit records...you just don't see them...but, when someone who's thinking about offering you credit pulls your reports, they get an actual FICO score that's calculated based on two years history.

What is interesting about this was my call to TransUnion the other day, where the rep confirmed with me that I only had four IQ's on my report. Don't you think that, if TU did keep record of all IQ's that you've had from the past two years, her records would've shown my actual IQ history?

I applied for a refi with my CU in October. On a whim, I asked them for a copy of the CR, and they sent it to me. In July, when I pulled my report, I had 19 inquiries in the two prior years. Most of them were from a vehicle shopping spree in July of 2006. On my 3n1 I had the same amount in September. When I received my CR from the CU, I had a total of 4. listed as follows:

INQS/30 DAY --1

INQS/6 MONTH --3

INQS/24MO --4

Before responding to this post, I checked a True Credit printout I saved on 10/14 to verify the 19 INQ were there. They were. I have to assume that the INQ on the CU CR are are cumulative, but even if they aren't the total still does not add up to 19. B* was beginning to occur at that time for me. Regardless, something is happening.

The jury is still out for me, but I am looking at my reports and the reports provided a lender, and it looks real.

Okay.... why doesn't this work for me??? It's been almost four months and I haven't seen a single *B!!

Samething happened to me, then I left for a week with no pulls during that week and I come back and all 5 inquiries were gone....

Like a little lag in the system and it has to catch up?

how many times do u haveta do this? cause my TU has like 30 IQ's from the last 2 years, it keeps multiples for some reason. im getting it fixed now of course, but they have it like this on my report:

Cap one, 8/05, 9/05,/ 12/06, and on and on and on and i didnt even apply for nothing and got all these things too, like i mentioned about the preapproved auto stuff i was getting in the mail and found it on my report.

is that the soft and hard all there??????? its a pretty long list. LOL

EQ only had 15 when i started, and i got them all deleted, lotso f multiples too,....

If this post is correct than bumpage is a waste of time and actually misleading yourself???????????????

Well if that's the case then I better complain to the CRAs that they are incomplete in reporting my inqs. My actual EX is missing 5 inqs from that fluke I had and my TU I received recently only has 1 inq showing on it. My CSC still only shows the one BK that was left after the other one got *b*.

I don't know, I would rather believe what I've been seeing on my reports as a result of *b*.
