Bi Business
I made a post earlier, and received some helpful/insightful information. However, I'm posting my EXACT question here in hopes of getting a clear cut answer about IMPROVING MY SCORE. Situation: 2 medical collections totaling less than 150.00 have been on my report for a few years (I've been a student for the last 5 years and haven't pulled my report in years). They are past the SOL. Phoned CA and they stated I could pay, but it would only be updated as PAID and he informed me that they do not have the authority to delete it from my credit reports. (will this improve my score?)Called OC and they told me to speak to the CA because the matter had been forwarded on to them. What's the best working solution to improve my FICO? Plan to buy a home within the next year and need to put this behind me. Thanx in advance!

I paid West Asset Management in full and my Tu went down 8 points.

If they come back verified then dispute as someone else's, especially if you have a common name. Second wave of attack if first wave doesn't work. Send the CAs a PFD letter stating that the accounts are time barred and no longer collectable but you would be willing to pay them both if they are removed from all 3 CRAs. Also, don't try to tell me that you don't have the authority to remove them because legally they do. This is a one time offer for settlement, please sign and return this form. I also include a self addressed envelope for their convenience.

Ahntara
"...Plan to buy a home within the next year..."If the strategy listed above doesn't prove successful, take no action before you speak with a mortgage broker/banker. Paying CA's prior to applying for a loan may cause your scores to tank (it depends on the details). Your broker/banker may be able to arrange to pay the collections at closing.
