mdo
Hi All - yes I am new here, have been for a while - but just reg. this is my question/concern: I started trying to get my credit cleaned up for a couple months, and was doing pretty good, how ever, one of the creditors, i contacted twice, by cert letter. nevr responded to me, I then got a letter from what looks like a laws office - I addressed a vd letter to them made copies of all the letters to the orginal creditor and mailed, cert. they have senty me what looks like bogus statemt letters and a copy of the customer agreement, the orginal letter that I sent was from this site for verification of debt, If I am correct what they have sent isnt verification? and the letter thay sent to me only say "with ref to your request for verification of debt, out client has provided us with copies of the following: Billing statements ans Term & Conditions," and asking me to call them to discuss the matter. Please tell me what you think and what I should do next, also I read something about if all 3 credit reports dont match, I was trying to find that again, because this debt i am trying to get cleaned up is all over the place, none of the records match. By the way I am in Maryland, any help would make me very happy ThanksMDO

A customer agreement, which usually requires some type of customer signature (either an actual signature or a digital agreement), constitutes as proof of ownership. Also, if the statements have your name, your address and your account number, along with the amount of the debt that you owe, that's validation as well. Again, provided that they have some form of your signature, then documents show that the debt is yours. That being said, if each of your CR's have different information listed for this particular debt, the debt should be disputed with the CRA's. You cannot, however, rely on the 3-in-1 reports for this. You need each of your individual CR's from each of the agencies. If the account number is wrong, for example, then it isn't your account. What I've done is dispute on the basis of completeness and accuracy. If they cannot verify every single field of the debt, then the debt should be deleted. If the debt comes back as verified but the information remains inaccurate, you've got some violations racked up.

Also the only statemts they provided are from 2003 and there interest only?
