virtualrn
I don't keep in touch with the exes to often.....My ex father in law is 85 years old with dementia. The IRS has been garnishing his social security $1200 monthly for a failed family business that occurred 15 years ago. In addition, he has $50,000 in credit card debt owed to some coin company who sold hom "gold coins." In order to make ends meet he is currently driving Hertz rental cars from the airport to the Hertz lot (yes, a dementia onset and still driving) and living in the basement of his ex-wife's house. Can the IRS do this? And this coin company did a little fraud as well....Doubt if he can afford an attorney at this point in his life....any resources or advocates phone numbers for this??? CarolinaBlueEyes
I know the coin company can't get SS or disability payments but the IRS may be allowed too..you need to check with a lawyer though to be sure.
