Yup.. they call that a re-insert. They have 5 days from the date it popped up to mail you a letter.

I'd bet you never see a letter. Search around here theres lots of info about it. knock on wood, I have never had anything that has been deleted put back on my report. So I don't have much experiance with it.

I will knock on wood for you too. This is totally upsetting to say the least.

Is it a violation if I do not get a letter?

Thank you so much!:!:

PS I just found this...

What if a removed negative item comes back on my credit report?

Ok, you’ve removed a listing and are breathing a deep sigh of relief. Then you get a letter in the mail from a credit bureau telling you the item has been added back on. What happened?

Reverified listings

This is actually becoming more commonplace: since the new credit laws require that the bureaus investigate and resolve your disputes within 30 days, they will sometimes remove the negative information temporarily until they get the information verified as true. Then they will put back any information verified to be true and notify you of this.By law, they can do this, but they have to notify you in writing.

Then I found this link. Who are they talking about suing?

If they don't notify you within 5 days, that's a violation, you can sue for $1000.

in this case.. Transunion.

But be warned. Transunion plays VERY nasty. a ITS can get you locked out of your reports online. I sent them a ITS about the same time they kicked me out of the TC club. Now that I have been kicked out of the PM123 club I can't get a report online from anything owned by TU or operating on their truecredit system. I can pull one from other sites if I want. My awnser to TU was a security freeze and a opt out.

I will eventually have to thaw them as I will be in the market for a house for the family, but until then, they can chill and let those baddies age off.

I did the opt out thing also. I don't want to sue unless I had too. Doc Don said he did not get the letter in five days and he sent a copy of the old report with the account on it and a copy of the report with the re-insert and they removed it! So hopefully this will work out.

The sick thing is this was deleted in May 2007!!!!! Over 6 month ago...UGH!

I forgot to ask this.... Since the mark on my credit report that was deleted last May 2007 (that came back last night on it) When does the five days start? Do they have to mail it post marked from last night and I get it in a week or does it need to be in my mail box five days from last night?

  • 4 weeks later...

Hello there!

I sent a letter to Trans Union certified about the reinsert of a collection account. (The account was deleted off my report for 7 months total and then all of the sudden I see it on my report early Dec)

Any ways Tu was supposed to notify me of the reinsert and never did.

So TU's response to my certified letter was just a credit report. In the investigation results it says the name of the collection agency and under it it says...."Any corrections to your identification requested by you have been made and are included in the following credit report."

#1 I never asked for changes in my identification.

#2 Why didn't they remove the old collection account reinsert?

Oh my goodness! TU stinks. They have one of my alleged accounts returned to me as frivilous on the 2nd go around. Basically, I ignore this and continue to dispute every week....Bombardment tactic? Equifax did the same thing to me, I cited the reg with the 5 day rule. They deleted immediately.

Hi virtualrn! I hope you had a great holiday!

Thanks for the reply! They do stink hahhaha! I sent out another letter today certified to them. Hopefully they read it and remove the account. I quoted the 661 to them in the first letter and now the second.

Thanks for your reply! See you soon!
