brokeinok
Well I feel like singing "Here comes the ice..." instead of "here comes the sun". I can hear the ice pellets on the windows now, it's thundering like crazy and I'm going out back now to see what that horrendous crashing noise was. Probably tree branches going down from the weight of the ice... went through this last year!!!!
DocDon
It's doing it here too now. First, we went under a storm warning last night, so I ran out to buy bags of magnesium chloride. Then they cancelled it. Then they called for a mixed bag later tonight. Then they said conditions were improving and we'd just have cloudy skies overnight. Now we're getting freezing rain. These people make six figures to regurtitate what their computer models predict. Anyone can do that.I think every newsroom should have a monkey and keep it by a window. If it sh*ts itself, they let us know something's coming.Plus it'll work for free. nimrod
Yup. Went out to get the paper this morning, and the couple across the street was already up @ 4:30 trying to get a half inch of ice off their cars. Hehe - I love my garage. Of course, they also have a 2 car garage - but it's full of junk. I'll bet they wished they had moved some of that stuff around and got at least one car inside last night - they were actually BANGING on the windshield to try to break the ice. Trapped inside all day yesterday - and prolly all day today. CABIN FEVER!!! I guess if Maggie & I were youngsters like y'all, I know what we'd be doing.........that's right....................we'd be...playing Video Games.
nimrod
Well, "broke" - hope you still have power. Mine's starting to flicker & just about everybody else I know in OKC is either w/o 'lectricity or has trees down (or both).Just a while ago we heard this:Heh - the van you see in the background had been parked in the driveway across the street. Over a period of about 30 minutes, we watched it ooze out of the driveway and into the street - she finally saw it and moved it to the curb. It's still coming down, too.........I HATE ICE! brokeinok
Well I'm back.. I posted the thread about the ice and then the power flicker, flickered again and finally died. Just came back about five minutes ago... what a mess this is! My house backs up to a creek/wooded area and I feel like I'm in a war zone. Every five minutes or so you hear a sharp crack like a gun shot followed by the scary sound of limbs and ice crashing to the ground. Got branches falling all over the front and back of the house but thankfully they haven't gotten my windows yet but we have started the bucket brigade in the kitchen area where I think there is some pretty major damage to the roof.Sigh........insurance and repairmen, the last thing I need to add to my plate. You know when Amerikaner gets his big "settlement", everyone else was asking for pizza but I'm really thinking I need a case of Tequila! brokeinok
How do we post photos on here? You wouldn't believe what my backyard looks like right now! I have the entire top of a 50+ foot tree on the front of my house and you can't even see to the fence line in the backyard through all the downed limbs hanging. Gotta go get my chainsaw back.... yes I know, never loan your tools (boyfriend already gave me that speech earlier)!
