I think I may die in a car chase

Recommended Posts

Today on my way home from work a car passed me as it was being chased by the police at Mach 3.

This is the 4th time I've been up close and personal to a police chase! What gives? I'm a solid citizen, I live a good life, with the best husband, never been arrested, never inhaled, (well, maybe once), raised a beautiful child, great job, so what is someone trying to tell me?

It's not like I live in LA. I live in quite respectable area of Funky Town yet 2 of these occurred in my neighborhood. The fourth was in Sweetwater, TX with the person driving down the wrong side of I-20 headed straight for me at about 10pm. Could have wiped out my whole family.

I really want a Vespa but I guess maybe not.

I out ran the cops twice in my younger years. First time I was on a motor cycle and they where in a car. I cheated and used a bike bridge over the highway the car would not fit on. I got away and they did not get my tiny plate number.

The second I was in my soupped up XR4Ti out in BFE. While the cops figured it was me, they where never able to prove it. They *claim* they clocked the car going flat out at 135 MPH.. I told them that it could not have been me and left it at that.

The car has basically been in hidding ever since, that was 1999...

And it was not me that they clocked at 135 MPH. I was going faster :D

I should qualify that now that I am much older, removed my brain from my pants and placed it back in my head I don't suggest EVER trying to out run the police or exceeding the speed limit anywhere near 100 MPH... or even 20 MPH ;)

oh..now if'n you said cowtown, or panther city, or even foat wuth, i'd a knowed.

i used to have/wear a t-shirt that read "foat wuth ah luv yew" :D

last time i was there, anywhere on I-20 (which used to be the south part of 820) was life threatening to even be on it. especially around hulen st. or green oaks area in arlington. sheesh

Well since you know FW so well, I live in Ridglea which is situated between 1-30 and 1-20 so I wonder if that has something to do with the neighborhood chases. The neighborhood I'm in has a lake in the middle so there are NO through streets. I think they just peel off Camp Bowie or SW Blvd and try to make a break for it. Dumb a$$es.

And the chase tonight, they passed me at the Hulen exit! How did you guess? I read online that it started in Como on Vickery. I had forgotten that I wanted to stop at the Container Store so I got off at Bryant Irvin, got back on SW Blvd and next thing I know, here's come the calvary.

Oh No! Horned Frogs!

Horny Toads!

I might have to cross D/FW off my list of placed to go when we are in TX in Feb...

Oh no, now I feel like I've trash talked my city. :-((( It's a lovely city. Don't miss out! And although I'm partial to FW, Dallas is great too. I see you're from MN. Are you driving? If so, be sure you visit the Palo Duro Canyon and see the musical TEXAS while you're there.

I was born in Hibbing, MN

I'm with Bumpie. I'd never heard FTW referred to as funky town. I lived there for three years, plus it's where my granparents/aunt/cousins all live so I've been going there my whole life. But KP is right, the DFW area really is a great place to visit. Tons of stuff to see and do!!!!!

And Mr. Post Whore....what had you in Wacko in the first place??? Lived there too...........UGH!!! One of those places in Texas you might as well avoid, IMHO (but grandparents there too, so no luck on avoiding it for me).

Don't worry, we'll still go there ;) I have been to DFW many many times when I "drove truck" We are making the trip south to investigate job options and look at housing. However you could not force me to live in Lorado.

If it where not for the low taxes and great weather in December we'd leave Minnesota..

What??? The taxes are high and the temp is low??? Call U-Haul!

oooh bal lake? do they still do the super christmas lights on the lake? it used to be the prettiest drive in the area at xmas.

i used to have customers that owned a small apt complex adjacent to tcu campus that i did all the maintenance work and remodeling on. they only rented to girls. when john belushi did the ladder scene in animal house, it brought back sooo many fond memories.

Kim and Speed are bringing back memories. I used to know that area pretty well myself. We are talking of course... back in the ice age era...

Who says Oregon people are bad drivers? Was that you Amerikaner?

I have to say that after Houston, being at home in Eugene would be a very

pleasant driving experience.

I think the DWF area in notorious for bad drivers and high speed chases. Last summer some guy hijacked a truck and held the driver hostage for a long ride.

I learned my worst driving during the year I lived in the metroplex. It's funny, went to memphis a few weeks ago and all I could talk about was how horribly slow they drive there. I got the need for speed in dallas

Same reason for me. My dad's side of the family lives down there...Waco area. two of my cousins (13 and 9) are living up here with my parents now...hard for gramma to raise 4 kids all by herself!!!

Yeah that was me. I used to live in Tigard, just south of Portland by like 5 minutes. I HATED driving down there - ever since 2001 when I graduated HS and took road trip to Cali thru Oregon. I mean seriously! ON Interstate 5, in the span of 3 miles, here is the speed limit (in order!) 65, 55, 50, 60, 50, 65, 50, 60 !! I mean COME ON! Maybe it's 'cuz I learned to drive in Cali when I was 13 (long story), but damn, those Oregonians love to drive 5 MPH UNDER the limit in the fast lane! Pisses me off!

I'm done now :p
