ctfudge&bankofC-ville
Well, now the suspense is killing us. There's only one thing to do - call up and find out. Let us know when you learn the answer.I do know, from when I had the card, that they used to pull a lot of dirty tricks, like: I paid by mailing in a check (they did not have online pay available, and this was only about one year ago, except you could make a rush payment by phone or maybe online for a big fat fee), and they'd mark the check received but not make the resulting funds available in my account for something crazy like two or three weeks. Come on, now - there's no way a check would take that long to clear. I can't remember their reasoning, but I closed that account first, when I went through and closed my tiny-limit sub-prime cards. daveyzzz
I think if you send them a payment and wait a few days it'll be business as usual. Or you could call them. They are just being extra paranoid and they want to make sure you aren't going to stiff them for their $10.
lovebug5
Credit One Bank is a pretty interesting institution...They treated me incredibly sh!tty over the phone so I got in touch with the Office of the President to complain. Lo and behold, the Office of the President approved me for a card without me consenting - pulled my credit, started immediately reporting a card, $200 limit with all of the fees. I have a monthly recurring charge that hits the card which I pay the day after the charge posts. They've never locked my card, however they're pretty quick to report the TL before you even get your card and pretty slow to report your payment history.... divinemadness
ah well it looks like i will pay the fees but never use the card again. i tried calling them and it was nightmare, they had no idea what i was talking about and why i was calling. then then had me waiting for 47 minutes for a supervisor to talk to to.. i hung up. im about to close the card. ill try calling back the supervisors extension when im in a better mood. lovebug5
I'm telling you, write to the Office of the President. You'll get a quick response. They treat you pretty crappy in their call centers, but the corporate offices don't like any hassle.
SandyeKay1
I sure was given the runaround...Told I was approved-then the next representative said I was declined. Then the next rep. said I needed to fax in Drivers license which-I did. Then I called and 2 weeks later they never received anyhting. Then I was told "I did it all wrong....I had to reapply and I should mail in the Drivers license copy"...then I called and asked for a manager-was hung up on twice after I said hello.....Very Dissapointed

lovebug5
They're pretty ridiculous, including their call center full of uneducated and disrespectful representatives who are obviously getting paid poorly and therefore just don't care about their jobs. jetscarbie
Isn't this the same credit card that gives you a $200 limit..charges you a first time $159 application fee then a $39 annual fee. That leaves you with $2 left on your card.We use to have one like that back in the day. haha
Hellard
did you have problems with them? i want to use it 6-9 months then close.
jetscarbie
Well, I don't guess DH read the fine print until he got the card in. He called to cancel and they wouldn't let him. Said he still owed the fees.So like an idiot husbands can sometimes be...he went and charged 1.90 on the card...That will teach them. haha until he got his bill in and they charged him an over the limit fee b/c he forgot to add in the "paperwork and statement" fee they charge. They also had him signed up for some kind of account secure thing...an extra fee.It did teach husband a valuable lesson...read the fine print and know what you are setting your self up for with credit cards. Hellard
Did they close the card the first time you requested when the balance was zero?
jetscarbie
The balance was never zero. He recieved it in and it was basically already over the limit with all the charges they placed on the card. When he purchased the $1.90 item....it went throughHe tried some gas later that day and it didn't. he was declined.Maybe you should ask if you are already over your limit. intera1
I must be one of the exceptions as Credit One has been good to me. After starting over after 5 years of no credit I started with an Orchard Secured MC with a $200 deposit and I always paid on time and mostly in full every month. After 6 months of history Credit One sent me a pre approval for $600 and even though it has a $69 a year and a $6 a month fee I have been using and paying off for 4 monthsThat has allowed me to apply to Hooters and get a $750 MC with a $72 a year fee. Yes I did have to get a secured card first and then pay Credit One's high fees but All 3 are helping me towards a no fee CC one day and hopefully a new car loan in the next 6 months. I knew Credit one's fees were high but I am glad to pay to build my return history to the credit word. You can't be upset if you don't read the fine print. FYI if you use your banks electronic Bill Pay it posts on Credit one within 2 days. at least from my experience.Orchard Secured $200 ~10 monthsCredit One MC $600 ~4monthsHooters MC $750~2months
