Jason
Before you pay for a credit freeze, check to see whether your state already offers such a right. Some states allow consumers to place and lift freezes for free, or at a lower cost. More information on state credit freeze laws is available at Consumers Union's Guide to Security Freeze Protection http://www.consumersunion.org/campaigns/learn_more/003484indiv.htmlCheck out Privacy Rights Clearinghouse for contact information for the big three, as well as tips on what to do if you suspect you've become a victim of ID theft. LadynRed
Yes, TN finally passed a credit freeze law, but it's not cost-free. It also doesn't go into effect until 2nd quarter of 2008. Unfortunately that will NOT help the 337,000 registered voters in Davidson county who just got told last night that the election commission had 2 laptops stolen that contained FULL SSN's plus other personal data !! Bunch of clueless dimwits !
