'Denied' By Walmart on Tuesday, Approved Tonight!

Recommended Posts

Ok, so in an earlier thread I had posted about DH and I going on a bit of an application spree.

I was given an instant approval for the Walmart store card for $125. I know it's not much, but I've only started building my credit down here...and it was my first online approval.

DH wanted to try for it too, but he didn't even get to answer the identity questions, which I thought a definite denial.

He got the email yesterday stating "Unable to Verify Identity"

So today, after reading that Magdalen77 was denied for the same reason and finally got ahold of someone at the fraud dept and was approved for $300, I went searching for a phone number!

I found one, and got DH to call when we got home from work. He explained the situation, that he got the letter, but no one phoned (probably because he doesn't have his phone number listed on TU), he chatted with the girl, and then she asked him some verifying questions, to which DH passed with flying colors.

(I can hear the conversation from the phone) and I hear the girl say "Ok, you've been approved (I'm waiting for the low CL) for the Walmart DISCOVER card for $2500!!!!!

I couldn't believe my ears! I started jumping up and down! :BigDance:

This is the largest CL that DH has so far...and it is probably the last card he'll apply for until next year (April/May).

It makes me wonder what his scores are now...and it's only been a month since we last pulled his Ficos.

Oh, and if anyone has been denied lately for WalMart due to Unable to Verify Identity here's the number to call to try and get them to verify:

1-877-878-4115

Both DH and I have cell phones we put down as our 'home' number, so it makes me believe that not having a land line will get a denile is a false statement by Walmart Credit Services.

Congratulations!! Good job. I couldn't get the Discover card, :-( guess I still have some more repairing to do.

I have no baddies. I moved down here when DH and I got married (DH is a US Citizen, and I'm Canadian). I have 2 CCs in Canada, both with perfect payment histories (1 opened in early 2001 the other almost 2 years ago). I literally had to start over down here.

I have no idea what my scores are as I don't know if I can even generate one yet. I got my first card at the end of July of this year.

DH still has a few baddies on his report.

3 unpaid Collections. 2 for medical ($36 and $246) and 1 from a Providian CO through Calvary ($1500)

He's also got some paid collections, and COs. But he's in a much better position than when I started his repair back in July.

His last Fico pull was a month ago and his TU was 629. We don't know what it is right now. We're waiting to pull TU and EQ after his current round of disputes come back (hopefully with some deletions! xdancex)

This Discover card couldn't have come at a better time...our front right brake has bit the dust and we need to get it repaired asap.

And that's when having credit is a blessing. No waiting until you can get the $$ together or having to take public or hoof it until you can.

VERY true. DH makes good money...he just has a lot of payments. We can't refinance his truck because it's not worth what he owes. I'm starting to make good money ($20/hr but not full time yet).

We'd be able to pay for the repair next week, but then it just puts us in a bind later on. Being able to spread out the payments over 2 or 3 paychecks will help tremendously.

And this limit will help his utilization. He's got small limit cards and once you use them, you start to kill your util! haha. I think I'm more excited about it than he is  and I should be jealous with my small card!

Oh well...my card will pay for my prescriptions and get PIF every month. That'll help me build my scores.

And it helps with getting CLI. That's what I did with my one subprime card and I went from $300 to $750 in less than a year. I'm hoping it will go up again in January.

Oh I know all about having that happen! lol

My first CC in Canada was an MBNA Mastercard with a $500 limit (got it in April 2001). Over the years, my limit has gone from that to $10,100.

At one point I got a $5000 CLI and I nearly had a heart attack!

I'm hoping that DH will have happen what has happened to a couple others here with their Walmart Discover...get a CLI when they send it. I think merkurfan was approved for $1000 but when he checked his EX they upped it to $3000.

We'll just have to wait and see and cross our fingers!

I miss my Credit in Canada lol

I know DH is pretty excited that he got this limit. I don't think he's had a CL this big...or if he has, it's been a long while!

This is all thanks to CIC! If I hadn't found this site, and become obsessed with fixing my husband's credit, we wouldn't have what we have today xdancex

That's great Virginia!

I felt the same way when I was running a little late paying Target and I got a letter in the mail, thinking they were going to scold me instead said I was getting upgraded to the Target Visa with $4,000 limit! :D But that IS another thread.

Congrats on the approval! :)++

Thanks rmuse!

And I remember your Target Visa upgrade thread

I'm hoping DH's upgrade for Target come soon. I was surprised he even got the $200 card...his EQ was 504!!! It was 568 in Nov...I wonder what it is now.

But they pull a soft on EX which is his highest score so far. They gave him the CLI to $500 in September.

I already have the Target Visa because I had them pull my Canadian credit to get it. I was able to do that with Macy's, JCP and Target. I've been able to get NFCU Visa and now Walmart with what I have done down here.

It's so exciting to finally get approvals. I think we're in the middle road right now, where it could go either way...whereas before it was always 7-10 and a denial.
