skyygirl
I can't believe I'm in this position again...I am currently running from the repo man. I think...I sent the past due payment amount in a check via certified mail on 12/21/07. It was forwarded from that postal address on 12/26/07. A very nasty rep informed me that it wasn't in their office; essentially, she thought I was lying about sending payment, which isn't a suprise. I am 75 days past due and I really don't want to worry about coming out and finding my car gone, but I am reluctant to authorize a phone check as I don't want it to try and clear with the other check, which seems to be lost in the mail. I lost my job 2 months ago--I've been managing to hang on and actually start a new job this week, but this financial stress, combined with the holidays, put me in the hospital for a few days...I'm trying my best to hang in there, but it doesn't seem to be good enough
Krash
in most cases i would say try to work through it, but u may need to file BK, I hate to say that but a repo will stay with you forever, I would talk to a lawyer and they will put a stay on your stuff..... Good luck and i wish you the best in this new year! I have a repo'd vehicle and they say i owed 44 hundred in principal and over 15g's in interest. this is crazy... Miss Informed
Skyygirl, It happens you can't foresee the future. Have you tried talking to the reps. More than likely they don't want to repo it as much as you don't want it repoed.Going through the same thing with my car; I think that I have it solved---hopefully. My husband has been laid off since August and have had to prioritize bills. I have since taken on more independent work to bring in extra money. Now that I have extra money and getting the essentials taken care of.............the credit cards which minimum payment has skyrocketed and I DO NOT know how to deal with those credit card companies because I can't pay it all.Didn't mean to hijack your thread but you inspired me to join. If you were ready to share your regression, I was ready to post my dirty laundry. Thanks, skyygirl............and it will get better!
Krash
miss, i would pay the min till something else comes up i know that is the hardest thing to do but it will keep from default maybe! I wish the best for both of you....
SandyeKay1
Sorry Skyygirl; Can you get a small loan anywhere to help you out?? Just to tide you over? Also, I would hide my car till I worked this out...if possible. Sounds like THEY made mistakes with your payment!...only they won't admit it. I had a beautiful Pontiac Firebird-"loaded" years ago and I had it taken....It broke my heart!....Also, the salesman at the dealer lied about the price because he knew I wanted that car. Car dealerships are not the most scrupulous...If you could make one payment...did you ask for an extension-say you had a family emergency?? Also, you were in the hospital....tell them you'll fax the papers to them...that ought to shut them up.
SandyeKay1
Can you cancel the one check (with the bank) and then give them a Western Union payment?? THEY can't say they didn't get it then...My friend always pays that way at the grocery store. Hope everything gets better and works out in your favor. Krash
She could probably do that or do a payment CMRRR, that is what I would do, and when the green card comes back there ya go
Moneedshelp
Good luck Skyy. If they haven't received payment yet, give it until next week, then consider putting a stop payment on the first check and paying with another form of payment. I know stop payment is more money, but at least you will be able to get the note paid and not have to worry about a duplicate check posting. I will be praying that your new year will be better than the end of last year. Remember your future is brighter than your today!! Hang in there, congrats on the new job and good luck!!!!! jasen
in most cases i would say try to work through it, but u may need to file BK, I hate to say that but a repo will stay with you foreverA BK stays with you for 10 years. A tradeline marked as "repo" only stays 7, not forever. And if there is any equity in the vehicle at all, the court would likely have her liquidate the car to pay debt off in the BK anyway.I'd only suggest a BK if you were tens of thousands in debt with no way of paying and nothing to lose. VeVe
Put a stop payment on the check you already mailed, then do a check by phone for a new payment. A stop payment is usually about $25. That's far less expensive than what a Repo would end up costing you in the long run.
