Why you dispute with the CRAs in writing

Recommended Posts

This is advice from a consumer attorney in GA. Most attorneys will not sue without a paper trail. I thought that I may have a case against Equifax for not properly verfiying what is being reported by collection agencies. He told me that without written disputes outlining in detail the information being incorrectly reported, it is hard to prove willful non compliance. Just FYI. I going to have to end up sending certified letters anyway.

I've been enjoying success with FAXed disputes. Don't cost me anything, except my time, and if they choose to behave like buttholes I can always step up to CMRRR. I'm attempting to follow Dive's advice of trying not to engage in an adversarial relationship with the CRAs.

I too have done pretty OK with faxing, with the exception of EX. I have 3 different fax numbers for them but am confused with where each of them goes. Have you had fax success with EX?

Yes, and unlike EQ, TU and EX have't disconnected their FAX numbers recently.
