Ok this is a question for a friend of mine.

My friends father-in-law passed away about 6 months ago since then she has settled most of the cc debt and sent death certificates to others.

Now there was no estate this man had nothing no money at all.

All of the sudden she gets a call from a CA she tells them that he has passed away but they don't care they just want the money.

Should she send them a C&D or just not talk to them being this is not her debt.

Any suggestions Would be very helpful.

The debts are within the sol

I would C&D. If there's no estate, there's nothing for them to get. Even if she was executor of an estate, she would not be personally liable for it anyway. Naturally, they don't care, they'll do anything they can to trick or coerce her into paying it anyway.

I'd definitely tell them to go pound sand.

edit: yeah, I forgot about spouses. Was assuming there was not one.

Personally, I wouldn't go out of my way to send then a copy of the death cert.

They can get a copy themselves if they really want one (I suspect they can also verify through the social security administration that the person is deceased).

In other words, I wouldn't do their leg work for them unless it's absolutely no work on your part.

Thanks Robert I will give her that advice.

Let them do their own leg work.

These people are just rude and inconsiderate.
