debtmamma
I've had stuff where my account was locked, a check was held, etc because they couldn't verify my id, etc, and I just don't trust banks like I probably should. It just seems like they can easily not give you access to your money. I know my CU account even has a daily withdrawl limit. If you use a safe, what do you use? Are they any that a fire proof and not just fire resistant? Are safe deposit boxes safe? I know I could be robbed too so cash may not be safe either. I'm thinking about stopping my dd and just cashing my payroll checks and keeping them as cash.
whocares
I have an actual safe...it is fireproof...my worry is a tornado carrying it off...I keep most of my cash at home as I make alot of cash transactions at the shop and I want it to be untreaceable...I do also keep a savings account...It has very low interest and I keep it less than 2 grand...it looks good to the bank to have a savings account...it shows I do not spend all my money...and I have enough to save a little.I need a few online accounts to balance things...The only real worry about the safe is the easy access...very tempting when you have enough money to but just about anything you want. YoUrFrIeNdMiKe
cashing checks and keeping the cash on hand-this may not be a bad idea. deficit is outta control. fiat money=fraud, all frauds come to an end suddenly. personally on a different note, i am a hardcore procrastinator and the only thing consistent in my life for almost three years was paying overdraft fees sometimes more that 1k a mo. i was making good money and viewed it as a nuisance then but compared to what i make now, i think wow that was alot of fees. now i cash my check at the bank it was issued from then go to wal-mart and they have a relatively new self-service vending machine for money orders. never anyone on it, can bang out 10-15 money orders quickly with no new clerk scratching their head for half an hour trying to figure out what to do. slightly less big bro tracking action with this way of doing things. former cop/military, not anti govt just like to be left alone sometimes. debtmamma
Thank you both for replying. I think I am going to keep one of my jobs going into my bank account to fun my ROTH IRA so I need to earn $350/month on that one, and then do check cashing/money orders for the rest. I just have to find a safe.
2001Badyear
I've had a safe at home for a long time. I keep all imporatant papers, titles to vehicles, passport, etc... in there.I would never dream of leaving cash in it though. On that note, Whocares, where do you live again. Just the street address and number as well as your schedule for next few weeks.Just curious
