so i am looking for cccs program... a couple are

clearpointfinancialsolutions.org

colsolidatedcredit.org

careonecredit.com

I am about 25k in credit card debt... 30-90 days late on all. I stopped paying on them as i didnt want to keep charging them up just for my daily expenses... i would spend my entire check on that alone and then charge till they were full again for my regular expenses.

considered bankruptcy... went to talk to an attorney... he said either go chapter 7 in my case or do something else.. because i make too much and ch. 13 in CT would be a pain in the a$$ because the trustee is not so great.

called a few of the places i hear about on the radio... one place said 360/mo for 4 years for their debt negotiation program (theachievable.com ... parent company is americorp) ... seems too good to be true.. credit ruined.. etc etc

another was usavsdebt.com ... same thing.. 330 for 36 months.. too good to be true.

talked to a rep from consolidatedcredit.org and he said that i would be looking at monthly payments of roughly $700... i could probably swing that.. need to get my second job back though.

i really dont have the time to sit on the phone with creditors and i have a hard time trying to talk to them and i get nowhere. I basicaly need to pay for someone to help me and im willing to do that.

now... please dont tell me to use the site not cccs and all that... whats a good cccs company i can speak with? what do you guys think of the ones i posted? thanks

Rob

I will start by saying I have no personal knowledge, good or bad, about any of those companies you mentioned.

That being said - Many if not all of the things a Consolidation company can do for you - you can do for yourself cheaper and better. I'm not telling you to "use this site, not CCCS", but I will let you know that here at this site we don't really recommend others doing what we can do for ourselves.

If you talked to a guy who said 700 a month and you're willing to pay that - go for it. Then come back here when you need to repair your credit reports showing lates and waht not. I don't mean that to sound callous, just simply stating a fact.

However you choose to proeed, :goodluck:

If you're looking for "the CCCS", that's a division of Money Management International: http://www.moneymanagement.org/

I used CCCS in 2004. They were nice and helpful, but it was not a good fit for me. Most of my creditors were willing to work with them when I entered into a debt management plan (DMP), but a couple of them were not. In the end, my payments were not cut by much, and the difference was basically negated by the $48 monthly fee for the DMP. The payment was something like $330/month for 65 months. I quit paying after two months, and my credit cards went back into internal collections with the original creditors.

When my cards got near the charge-off point, Citibank and Discover offered to put me on hardship payment plans with no interest for 6-12 months. Three years later, those cards are paid off; however, the accounts would still be open and would be otherwise good tradelines if CCCS hadn't forced me to close them at the beginning of my DMP. (Unfortunately, there were two other accounts that I just had to "let go" because of financial problems, and now I'm dealing with collection agencies and junk debt buyers.)

If you're going to go with CCCS, use the one that's a division of Money Management International. Don't use CareOne or any of those other guys. Either way, you are likely to end up with a bigger mess than if you negotiated yourself or went BK, but it seems that you knew that's what anyone here would tell you. After my dealings with CCCS, I learned (mostly from this site) that I could make a budget, tighten my belt, learn to live without some "fun" things for a while, and dig myself out of my own hole -- all without paying someone else to do it for me. It has been very empowering, and I have learned a lot -- most importantly, how to never get over my head in debt ever again.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
