cheyenne52883
I am trying to clean up me and my boyfriends credit. On his report he has a collection account with UNIFUND - he has no idea what this is regarding and we both assume that is it a family members account since they all have similar names (almost all the males have the same middle and last name). We have disputed with the CB's and it has remained. Sent DV letter and recieved a response that says "We have recieved your correspondence regarding the above referenced account. We are processing your request for documentation validating this debt, and will mail this to the above address when it has been recieved in this office. If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact this office at (888) 384-8134"The DV letter was recieved by UNIFUND on 12/10/2007... Meaning the 30d from DV letter is 1/9/2008.What do I do next?
CaliStar
I am in the same boat as you , got that same letter and am wondering how long to wait for them to dig up their verification. It has been 30 days since they sent me that letter , I think I will send them another DV and ask them to remove it because they have failed to validate it. Mine is from a Chase credit card that was assigned to Unifund.
sjmp
IT has been almost a year since I filed a DV with unifund. I have sent them three letters since and they never responded. I sent copies of those letters to the three CRA's and they said it was verified and to follow up with Unifind. On my credit report they moved it from past due/ collections...to law offices... I almost want to go to court at this point since they have ignored my requests and I have certified mail to prove it. What can I do here!!!! Fizzle1979
If you find that Unifund has violated the FCRA or the FDCPA you could file a complaint with the ACA Intertional since they are a memeber.
