august82006
HERE’S MY SITUATION: PLEASE HELP!!!! I always have excellent credit grade often in the in the 730 score until I had an accident in October 2006...it was not my fault and the other party agreed to pay all the medical expenses I incurred. I had a fractured elbow:-( and lost my part time job :-(because of the collision. It took a while but in December 2007 the case was settled and all dues were paid. They reimbursed me part of the money I spent for renting a car and more than a thousand dollar for the lost wages because I lost my part time job and the pain which still bothers me when its cold. The hospital however sent the bill to a collection agency and in turn reported me to the credit bureau. Now my credit is ruined. I followed up with the collection agency if indeed the lawyer had paid my bill and said yes the lawyer did. I also inquire about the credit report and asked if they could remove the item in my report (I am planning to buy a house this year so I need this fixed) but they said "NO!" because it was not discussed during the negotiation about my credit to be protected. I want this fixed because it will penalize me for seven years including possible denial for mortgage (I only learned about the credit report when Citibank denied my applications for MasterCard!!)WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?CAN I STILL GET THE BAD IMAGE OFF MY CREDIT REPORT?IS MY LAWYER NEGLIGENT?Please help….Thank you.August82006
Amerikaner83
You should dispute this with the credit bureaus...that's always your first step.Yes you can still get it off, dispute first, see if it sticks.Your lawyer is not negligent...probably just ignorant about the credit reporting side of things.
