Optimized
I have a Capital One CO that is approximately 4 years old. I was reading that they may have an internal program that would allow the CO to be moved to an Open TL to be paid off in full, with credit line becoming available as you pay down the balance. Anyone have info or experience with this?I read it here http://www.webgroups.biz/creditcardperks/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=45624&sid=7bf1f5f2211bd62da38f64c8f752e50bhalf way down the thread ... Donna47129
Hmmmm...I tried to get them to open a new TL and they told us they don't have that program...
lovebug5
The question is, if this program really is in existence...Does it wipe out the negative history on the formerly CO'd account, or does that account history remain on your CR's but showing the TL as "open" with the balance "paid"?? Because if it were to remove your negative history on that TL, I would never understand why people wouldn't take advantage of this...
hopelesscred
That offer is no longer avail...I asked months ago and was told as much. CRAP one refuses to budge on 2 COs...well one actually, the other is past SOL
lovebug5
The thread which the OP linked to is from 2006 - so the information is pretty old. .. Thanks for the update, hopeless!
lossuzy
I have 2 CO on my credit report from capital one which are almost 6 years old. The other day I got a letter in the mail from them acknowledging the old accounts, but then adding we miss you as a customer and gave me an offer for a new card. Has this happened to anyone else? lovebug5
Although some people have experienced a Cap1 blacklist of sorts, I was totally surprised when they granted me a card with a pretty low APR and a pretty high CL. At the time of my application, I had a pretty fresh BK on my reports in addition to an old Cap1 CO from the early 2000's...I'm going to attempt to get in touch with a higher-up at Cap1 and see what I can work out to get the old CO off of my CR for being such a "valued customer" who PIF's their account every single month. Optimized
Thank you for the replies and feedback from similar situations. What address would I use to write them a letter that actually gets read by someone who might respond? My chargeoffs were part of a downhill credit spiral in 2003 after a house fire which I lost everything. I might try requesting a deal combined with goodwill consideration. Bottom line is I want to clean up what I can and PIF where possible.
