Hi everyone,

I have 3 charge offs in my credit report:

VERIZON PEN - 6/2004 - $114

VERIZON PEN - 6/2004 - $243

VERIZON PEN - 6/2004 - $97

They aren't in collections, how would i go about disputing these debts? I don't recall ever owing to verizon. I had verizon basic DSL with a bare bones phone line and there is no way I could have racked up these kind of charges. DV wouldn't work because they aren't CAs right?

Verizon has it's own in-house collection dept..

sounds like that where you are...no?

I PFD'd a Verizon in house collection TL... but I had to go to the CEO a plead my case.

I had a legitimate complaint - Verizon service sucks on Oahu.

and canceled early and like an idiot didn't handle this before it went to collections.

I have learned my lesson-- as described in my siggy see #3.. :-)

I was going to mention, even though Verizon is on the CR when you call Verizon they always refer you to one of their collectors. I don't think that they sell the debt they just farm the collection out.

Not to hijack, but I have a verizon co, and it reports as verizon on the credit reports, but I am dealing with AlliedInterstate. Allied sent a dunn stating they would be collecting for Verizon. However, got allied because they have not responded to my timely debt validation. The question is, can it report as verizon, yet they have a collection agency collecting for it (hence, mention that they do it in house??)

Thanks mag, you answered my question about the farm out of the collection account. But it still presents on the Credit Reports as Verizon, and not the co agency because they never sold, correct..... Tricky, because you never actually know that until you recieve a dunn letter.

Yeah, for my Verizon thing the collector was some outfit out of Harrisburg--Penn Credit or some such. I need to get on TU's a$$ because they haven't deleted it. I believe that Verizon or whoever asked for it to be removed, 'cause it's gone from EX. But TU is being a PITA. Sometimes I just want to drive down to Chester and kick their asses.

  • 2 weeks later...

Verizon is horrible. I started disputing and requesting verfication last year. They play stupid all the time. Originally it was listed by both verizon and a collection agency as a collection.

I disputed with the CRA's and sent request for Validation. The collection agency removed it but Verizon sent me letter stating they had no info on this account.

They continued to report. So I sent a copy of their letter to the CRA's and requested they remove the account. They responded that it had been verified, to contact the creditor.

So I send Verizon another letter, and a copy of their letter stating they have not such account and requested validation under the FDCPA. They respond months later that they are not oblicaged under the FDCPA because they are the creditor.

I send another letter saying that under the FCRA Act they must povide poof of this debt and proof that it is mine. I write that even though I quoted the wrong act, it is clear from my letter that I am disputing this debt and requesting a copy of their investigation and that perhaps the Courts will agree that they were not obligated to respond because the wrong act was quoted, but perhaps not.

They send me another letter saying that they are not bound by the FDCPA and that if my client wants copies of the bill (from 2003) to have them call the number on page 2.

These people are pushing me beyond all reason. I am frustrated. I am sure that I will figure out what to do but right now I am flabbergasted.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

In my experiance Penn Credit will just go away if you DV.

-r

I got one call and I told the guy that I've never been late with Verizon. I sent him a copy of all of my payments since the account started from the online report. He called and said, "Oh, I see what you mean." and I've never heard from them again. Now if I could only get TU to remove it.

I had a verizon co. It appeared on my credit - never received the bill or anything - so I paid.

Then, I simply called Verizon # from the credit report and told them that they are reporting me as a co and on eq it always shows 120+ days late and they are ruining my credit. A very nice girl said - no problem I'll send a delete message to cra. you'll see an update in 3-5 days.

2 wks later i didnt see an update, I called them back and asked about it. Not so very nice guy said - hey why is this being deleted.

...and I have been fighting with them ever since.

I think if I should have waited for maybe 30-45 days it would have been deleted. idiot.
