2001Badyear
That's a good answer.I just start out for a few moments like I'm really interested, then say, "oh hold a just a second, can you?" as if something pressing just came up. I set phone down and go about my business. They are excited about the potential sale and stay on for some unknown period of time. Eventually I hang the phone up and usually never hear back from them. Once I actually had the same outfit, different person I think, call back and I did the exact same thing. Never heard back from them either. Moneedshelp
After saying no, I am not interested, they usually continue to talk trying to sell whatever. Then I usually say, "Hello, Hello, Hello can you hear me?" and the person says Hello yes, I can hear you. Then I say well then you heard me when I said I wasn't interested. Buh bye!! willingtocope
Wasn't it Jerry Seinfeld who said..."Gee, I'm sorry, I can't talk right now. But if you give me your home phone number, I'll be glad to call you when you get off work".
debtmamma
If you tell them not to call your # again they should remove you from the list. Honestly we should be upset with the companies who SELL our names and addressed and phone numbers instead of the telemarketers. We are paying them for an item or service and they rack in more cash by selling our information! debtmamma (former telemarker)
isislc
You can sue for $500 if you tell them not to call you again and they do.

DHK
I just think it's funny that telemarketers haven't learned to do anything NEW or different in the past 20+ years. Here's what I do (and yes, I make calls for a living):[insert name here], my name is DHK with ______ financial. I want to be upfront with you. This is a cold call and I'm not very good at making these kinds of calls. Would it be okay if I take 30 seconds to tell you what I do, then you decide whether or not we should talk further? At the very least, I get the chance to ask a question or two and I have elicited the respect of the person that I'm talking to.
