betam4x
If i dispute an item as having inaccurate information and I provide evidence (an old credit report in this case), is it remove or corrected?
rmuse00
The credit reporting agencies are required to report accurate information. When a consumer disputes they conduct an investigation and must verify with the OC or CA reporting that all information is correct. Negative information is reported for up to 7 years. They must update the information to reflect correct information or if they are not able to verify the tradeline (information) must be deleted. You can read more on the Fair Credit Reporting Act here. betam4x
I understand this very well, but the information there is obviously NOT accurate. The CRA is CLEARLY not verifying with the collection agency, yet they state that it meets 'all FCRA requirements'. I have 2 collections duplicated on my report from different companies. NCO and west asset management are both collecting on the same account. Both are set to roll off at the end of this year, but i'd much rather get it cleaned off now. I am trying to get my car refinanced. (24.5% interest blows goats.) The CRA is TransUnion btw.
2001Badyear
If you disputed with the CRA's than only other thing you can do is DV the CA.
rmuse00
Maybe I can help a little better now that I have more info on your situation. Have you disputed with the CA's that are reporting your TRL's incorrectly? Follow the DV process, you can read that here.It might be a good idea to dispute with CRA again once you DV the CA's. Here is a tool that you can use to guide you along in her process. DV Flowchart. I'm assuming by "meeting requirements" you mean that the CRA is marking your tradeline "in dispute". They are required to to that per the FCRA. Here is another section you might want to read. It will familiarize you with the basic process of credit repair . Hope this is helpful.
