I have an old HSBC account that was opened in 2001. It was then sold off to Palisades and that is listed as a seperate tradeline on my report with the original creditor identified as HSBC. it has the date opened as 2006 (I'm guessing when they received the account). Is that reaging?

Also..this was a paid settlement...does that matter?

Nope. The date opened can be the date that Palisades was assigned the debt.
