vwgrrrrrl
In collections from when I lived in MI, only recently they started reporting on my bureau since I moved to CA. Debt from 2001-2002, I believe SOL in MI is 6 years but in CA I read that it is 4. Can they validly continue to report to my CR's? I tried the links to check licensing req's by state but no luck. Thanksps I am in the process of disputing to the CA and CR agencies.
Ahntara
Apples and oranges...SOL is state law which concerns how long you may be sued to recover money owed and the ramifications should judgment be granted. It varies not only by location, but also by the type of account.Reporting is regulated by the (federal law) Fair Credit Reporting Act. There is a sticky at the top of the page. Section 1681c, subsection 605 contains the time limit for reporting and a formula for figuring out the starting date (DOFD).
