rmiller0410
I need some help. All my cards are now paid off so I am wondering if I should close out the small ones from hsbc.Or do I just let them lay in the drawer and age? I do not need them now that I have a mastercard from Kemba with a 5000 limit. But my history on equifax only goes back to when i got them in June due to all the disputes. So I am confused as to which is the best way to go.Any advice? I do have other accounts that where open in June as well.
VeVe
If you close it, the history remains on your CR, so you won't lose it. The annual fee is the only reason to really consider getting rid of it. You may be able to call and tell them that you want to cancel because of the fee, that you have cards with higher limits, etc, and they may end up waiving it. Getting rid of the small CL may even work in your favor!
Krash
yeah, soon as my AF comes up I am going to ditch the hsbc cards, or combine them, that would work well too, my orchard card has 500 and best buy mc has 850, so i could combine them and keep the 39 buck a year af, that is pretty cheap! LadynRed
Don't close them, it looks bad. Better to just let them lie and go dormant, especially if they are positive tradelines with history. However, if they have a hefty annual fee I can see why you wouldn't want to leave them open.
