Transunion: Unable to locate credit report

Recommended Posts

Sent dispute letter to TU on 1/2/08. Got letter dated 1/8/07 stating unable to locate credit report. Asking for the driver license, utility bills, SS card, etc. as address and SSN verification.

Should I or can I send another letter listing all previous addresses?

fyi - dispute letter had current address and last 4-digits of SSN

Thx.

Typical TU style....They did this to me once and I sent them nothing, about a week later I received my CR and my results of my disputes. It seems to me that's their "stall" tactic to give themselves more time- I'm only speculating...

However, I've seen on here where others sent the info that TU wanted in another CMRRR letter.

:confused:First of all I went through the website to get my free yearly credit report and TransUnion was the only one that made me send in paper work to get it. Once I finally recived a reply back from them they tell me they can find my report and asking for more verification I.E utility bill and DL. Should I do this? Its been about 12 days since they wrote the letter.

You can send them copy of the drivers license just mark out the dl # they just want to see a picture of you. And a copy of your social security number, if you are going to dispute you should use your full social security number and not expect them to know it by just giving last 4 digits.

Dear Credit Bureau,

According to The Fair Credit Reporting Act, “In general, All consumer reporting agencies described in subsections (p) and (w) of section 603 shall make all disclosures pursuant to section 609 once during any 12-month period upon request of the consumer and without charge to the consumer.”

I have now twice requested my report be provided to me (once online and once via return receipt mail). I have also provided adequate identification documents with both requests. Under The Fair Credit Reporting Act your company has 15 days to provide me with my report. I do not appreciate the stall tactics that your company is using against me. I just wish to be provided the information that I am entitled too.

Please provide me with this information so that I will be able to confirm the accuracy of the information on my report.

I am including the information in which you requested the third and final time. I have also included a signed copy of the last letter requesting my report.

Sincerely,

enclosures

If it were me, rather than use the terminlogy "stall tactics" in your letter, I would put in actual dates: eg, ordered your report on line xx/xx/xx and responded to your request for additional info xx/xx/xx. It has now been x days. That sort of very specific timeline to show how long it has been since you have been trying to get your report.

Under The Fair Credit Reporting Act your company has 15 days to provide me with my report. My first request online was August 7, 2008 and I was told to send in a request with more identification documents. The response to that request was received by your company via return receipt mail on August 29, 2008. I am now sending a request with identification for the third time.

I just wish to be provided the information that I am entitled too.

Please provide me with this information so that I will be able to confirm the accuracy of the information on my report.
