climbingfromthehole
My wife has a medical account on her CR for $42 that we didn't know anything about. What would be the best way to handle this one? Should I just pay it and be done or ask for a PFD? Should I DV it first or not?Her report has 4 negatives on it including this one so I'd like to clear it if possible.
Fozzle
Where did it come from, was this something that insurance was supposed to pay? If so, I would call the original creditor and tell them you have no problem paying, but you really need this removed from the credit report because it was an miscommunication with the insurance co. Sometimes it just takes a little charm.
climbingfromthehole
I would think insurance covered it but guess not. I'll see about having her call to get the info from the OC.Can't really say what it was from as I don't know the original dates. Guess I'll find out when she calls. lovebug5
I would most definitely call the OC on this one, since it's a small amount, and see if they're willing to work with you. Many CA's have contractual agreements with OC's preventing the OC's from taking charge in any situation. Since the amount is only $42, I would see if there's anything that they can do...If they can work with you, I'd get it in writing before I sent them any payment. fred333
I would trace it back to the source then reevaluate.
flacorps
PFD only. They're unlikely to sue on anything this small, so if you hold your money they'll eventually agree to it.
whocares
Send it to the OC, just put it in an envelope and say something like, Just informed of this debt...heres payment in full, THanks...who caresWorked for me...then I disputed with the CRA's saying paid OC and was not sent to collections...once they cashed the check...it was a few days and I called the hospital and asked them to correct the account...they did and pulled it back from the CA and I was home free.
