betam4x
Hi everyone,I've decided to attempt to get Capital One to work with me on the debts that I owe here is the letter I am writing, can you tell me if this sounds good? By the way please don't slam me for doing this, i know of the negative sentiment for this company, but I would very much like to fix my credit issues.Dear Mr. Fairbank,I am writing to you as someone been an account holder with Capital One since 2001. Last year in 2006 I lost my job and remained jobless for several months. By the time I found a new job my account had been “charged off” and assigned to a collection agency. I did attempt to come to an agreement with your company at the time, but was told there was not much they could do for me. Since then I have obtained a new job and have begun repaying my delinquent debts, including Capital One. I would like to make a request of your company. I’ve heard that there are many consumers who’ve been through similar situations that your company has helped out. This was done by giving them a new line of credit, placing the debts on the said line of credit, and allowing consumers to pay off that debt and then continue using that new card. I am asking if it would be possible for you to do the same with me. I’d very much like the opportunity to continue doing business with your company, and it would help me in my efforts to rebuild my credit. Thank you for your time. Best regards,betam4x

VeVe
I'm going to suggest you don't even both sending it to him, but find someone else at Capital One to send it to. Mr. Fairbank will not respond to you, especially after being bombarded by others after his email address was posted here. He will not even read it, and will just pass it off to his assistant. She has no email address, is impossible to reach by phone, and it will just add to your frustration. It's not difficult to find names and email addresses of other management level people there. I suggest you do that (but don't post here exactly who you send it to) in order to get the best results.
Fizzle1979
I would add a little bit more honey to your letter. Tell Cap One how much you loved using their card and how making payments online was easy, loved their customer service, tried to work with them prior to this charge off, etc. Just pour it on thick. I've had success getting an credit limit increase from cap one after writing Richard Fairbank. You can do a search for my posts and find other Cap One people like their chairman Bo Campbell. Also, check out www.portfolio.com or www.wiki.com for capital one higher ups.
ZORG
Who did they sell it to Zorg?betam4x,Letter looks good, let us know if you hear anything. Good luck!!I dont remember which company originally purchased our accounts, but they were resold to yet another company only a month or two later. Webbank now owns them at an interest rate that makes me want to close the accounts. I now have two cards that have the name PEARL CARD printed on them.Fortunatly, I was able to get both the original Crap one items off my credit report as well as the reports that showed up after the original buyer of my accounts resold them.~Z
