dano009
I have seen people refer multiple times to a 4 year SOL for medical debts, and that it is in the UCC somewhere. However with research, this still remains unclear to me.I do know that no SOL will hold for hospital debts that have been eventually been paid by a state, as that becomes government debt and whynot has pointed this out. This is a serarate issue however.Notwithstanding this...it is possible for people to acquire 50-100k in medical debt in some cases from doctors or surgeons and other services that bill outside the hospital.So...is there really a stated 4 year SOL nation wide, and can someone quote or point me to it. Example- For MS- medical debt is considered a written contract as you must sign a payment agreement before seeing a MD at an office or Hospital and therefore our SOL on medical debt is 3 years. If I'm wrong, then my state's Attorney General's office is wrong as I got this info from MS's AG's office in 2006 when I called them and spoke with an attorney there. dano009
I see reference that there isn't any SOL for hospital debt with some hospital accepting Medicare and Medicaid. Thus, I'm wondering if this is a possible federal regulation. Is so, does anyone have a cite to share?
