pointman
Signed on to check for any activity and noticed my available credit was $1500!I guess they're spot on with their 90 day increase! I didn't expect it to be a 50% CLI though!
CleverCynic
Yep... you should have gotten a letter to that effect very early on. I've only had one statement so far but can't wait... should be another 5 weeks or so.

stefdr
I'm only giving them until May for a CLI. That will be two years and I really don't need the card anymore. It was good at the beginning in getting credit established, but its just in the way now.
pointman
Cynic - No letter, email or any indication it was coming. I knew it was close but I had forgotten about it and was more concerned with PIF'ng before they reported for January. Stefdr - The 90 day increase was part of my agreement, or rather, specifically touted in the pre-approved app they sent me. "Pay on time for 90 days and you get an increase." Not verbatim, but that was the deal. I'm sure you've accomplished that and more, but it may not have been a feature of your card since you've had your card longer. Don't close it though - shutting down the positive history you've established may be more damaging than having a low available CL. Overall, losing the $500 may not affect your utilization rating that much but, shutting down the history could. Maybe you can get past Abu and talk to someone in their "retention" center; they don't wanna lose you, and you may get a better deal if you hint that you're contemplating closing the acct.Magdalen - It's OK to tell Stefdr that my legs are hairy too... stefdr
I've given it thought, and even called a couple of times about a CLI, and all I got was a hard pull that I had to bump off. I'm going to call again in May if there is no CLI at the 2 year mark. I'll just state flatly that I'd like to close the account, and tell them exactly why when they ask. They will have to make a hefty offer of CLI and lowering the APR. Its up at 19%, the highest APR of any of my cards. I keep it at a low utilization because of that. I don't like losing that kind of history, but its the principle of it. When they did the last pull, they could see what kind of other cards and limits I have. lovebug5
I'm currently in the process of waiting for my CLI. I too have the agreement with them for "pay on time for 3 months and get a CLI", so I'm patiently waiting. Hopefully they'll up my CLI high enough to justify me actually using the card. pointman
Good Luck to both of you! Now, if I can just get Hooters and Target to follow suit I'll be a happy camper!
stefdr
Hooters gave me a CLI of $400 at the beginning of January, but no luv from Target yet. I've been spending about a hundred a month on it since getting it, and paying it off. Only been about three months since getting it.

Just trying to figure out when there may be a light in the tunnel for a CLI.
stefdr
Hey Stef, when did you apply and get your Hooters card? Just trying to figure out when there may be a light in the tunnel for a CLI.Got it back in July, with a $1000 CL, so it was 6 months until I got the increase to $1400. isislc
Hmm, I only have 3 months of reporting on it. Will have to knock it down before they pull for a CLI.
CleverCynic
I just zeroed out ALL of my 7 cards with my loan disbursement. Man even as careful as I know to be, I had still gotten them up to around 3k over the holidays and the thin December month... this couldn't/wouldn't have happened last year, I'd have just lived broke and probably gotten more reasonable gifts for the kids and family. Now I'll have to work extra shifts by the end of the semester to make up the difference. Dudes, just be careful with these things... it's a love/hate thing. I cannot BELIEVE how quick it is to run up a grand on a credit card.
