win270 Posted January 17, 2008 Report Share Posted January 17, 2008 559.555 Registration of consumer collection agencies; procedure.--Any person required to register as a consumer collection agency shall furnish to the office the registration fee and information as follows: (3) Renewal of registration shall be made between October 1 and December 31 of each year. There shall be no proration of the fee for any registration. (1) Any out-of-state consumer debt collector who collects or attempts to collect consumer debts in this state without first registering in accordance with this part shall be subject to an administrative fine not to exceed $1,000 together with reasonable attorney fees and court costs in any successful action by the state to collect such fines. 559.785 Criminal penalty.--It shall be a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083, for any person not exempt from registering as provided in this part to engage in collecting consumer debts in this state without first registering with the office, or to register or attempt to register by means of fraud, misrepresentation, or concealmentThe CA has updated on my CR's 1/2008 There registration has exspired on 12/2007 I called and made sure and have the print out from Office of Regulation that shows registration has exspired. have my credit Report shows the updated TL. They say I have to take oath From my Notary and send in notarized complaint form.Does it sound as though they have violated the law and I can proceed?Would be great to get these jerks. And they HATE to take reports, especially when it's this complicated. There is no direct line to the D.A. except through them. I live in CA too.
