First off I have gone from 520 to 701 in the last year! And what do you know? I get 3 letters from NCO in the mail today! The are for medical clinics. LOW amounts. $10, $20,$35. I thought I had paid off all my med bills (I get a lot as my son is a very sick boy), so lots of ER trips. I call the clinic line about once every 5 months just to be sure I am paid off and I was a couple months ago???!!!

What do I do here? If I pay these through NCO before the 30 days will they not report this on my credit report? Or do I pay the clinics and then dispute these letters? I dont care who I pay as long as these do not go on my report (they arent yet). I will just die if they do!!!

Please help me!! :-(

You should dispute them. There are form letters that you can use here. Do they list the office they are collecting for? I have a medical collection that was paid by insurance and placed in colelctions about the same time. I sent a dispute letter to the collector. I have proof of the pay from my insurance and included that. They are currently reinvestigating it...

However if you can afford it and dont want the hassle, you may just want to pay as long as they dont post it on your credit. I wouldnt do that tho IMHO. However Im still learning the ropes so Im sure the others willh ave better advice....

Welcome to the boards, and Im sorry to hear about your kid. I hope he gets better! How old is he?

He is 4 years old. He has a lot of lung issues and has nearly died of them a few times so I HAVE to go to the ER when things arise. Have no choice :-( However, I do always pay them. It's a company that owns both the hospital and all there clinics all over town. I go to their clinics for general checkups, after hours walk in's usually for my son and their er for him as well. So it creates a lot of confusion as far as billing goes to say the least. blah blah blah ....

I definetly plan to pay I am just so scared of getting 3 collections for this. I am wondering since I use this hosspitals clinics and hospital so often (including 2 births) maybe they will work with me. I mean I have always paid them for everything. These seemed to have slipped through the cracks. I just don't want to pay these and still have them show on my credit ya know? Ahhhhhhhhh

By the whole "you have 30 days to respond" on the NCO collection letter are they saying if you pay in 30 days this wont go on your credit? Or will it anyway? I am thinking so far I will call and pay the oc tomorrow and then dv these collections? Do medical facilities ever pull a collection back (if there is such a thing?)?

The "30 days" means that if you send them a letter (certified mail, return receipt requested) within 30 days, they have to stop collecting until the verify with the OC that the debt is valid...this includes prohibiting them from reporting, although they likely had done that alread.

I'd suggest you send off your "debt validation" (DV) letter to the CA and then call the OC and see what the story is. If its a real debt, you should be able to pay the OC directly...if its bogus, the OC should be able to call of the CA.
