betam4x
I might be able to nail AFNI. I had 2 debts, one from cingular from 2003-2004, another from sprint that was put on my credit report in mid december. The cingular one was paid and i had opened ANOTHER cingular account with AFNI. I am waiting for cingular to send me documents on this...However the item of interest is the SPRINT one. I sent DV and after DV was signed for i disputed with CRA and AFNI verified. I am in the process of writing experian to ask for the method of verification. Isn't verifying during DV considered collecting? They also still have not marked the debt as disputed on my credit report.

It seems to me that the CRA informed AFNI that you disputed it and they verified. Could be wrong tho....
betam4x
No, From what I understand, AFNI must verify with ME by providing documentation of the debt. They've ignored my DV so far altogether. The sprint account was timely, cingular was not.

nolove4collections
I hope AFNI burns in the hot place.......Well here is the thing if the DV was untimely with ANFI they dont need to respond to any of your letters. But there is the FCRA 623 (a)(8) ABILITY OF CONSUMER TO DISPUTE INFORMATION DIRECTLY WITH FURNISHER. Here how it goes when you dispute the negative listing with the CRA and it comes back VERIFIED. You send a letter to the collection agency asking for an investigation in regards to the negative item on your credit report. Here is the link http://creditinfocenter.com/repair/DisputingWithOriginalCreditor.shtmlAnd remember they have to complete the investigation in 30days and if they choose not investigate the negative listing they have to send you a letter saying your dispute is FRIVOLOUS OR IRRELEVANT within 5 business days, so if the CA doesnt do anything at all $1,000 fine. Im setting up ACCB collections on the same statue they have 9 days left. I checked my experian report everyday and they havent changed the listing on the item im disputing with them it still says Verified on October 2006. Im so ready to get my check from them i have an attorney ready for this case in hand. And dont forget send all mail Certified.
