greatwhitediver
I am proud to anounce that I have had great success using the methods on this site. So much so that in 45 days, I have had my Equifax fico go from a 502 to a 622. When I pulled it at myfico today I about wet myself!6 negative trade lines all gone including 1 Auto reposession. Now,Trans Union keeps delaying by sending me a request for a copy of my social security card. Should I send it to them or just go file suit in court? My original request was sent certified and notorized by a florida notary therfore confirming my identity.Experian says they verified everything that Equifax said they could'nt, Where do I proceed from here? Hellard
Thats a good start. I think sometimes the OC/CA only verifies with one CRA - so it gets left on the others. Some i have waited and disputed again and they have come off. If you do some more searching/reading you will probably find your answers. I read on here every day for a month before i joined. Good luck.

VeVe
Should I send it to them or just go file suit in court? Congrats, but can we stop thinking this way? Why is everyone always looking for a lawsuit? It's not something to take lightly, and it bogs down the court system and delays them from addressing more serious issues. greatwhitediver
VeVe, Perhaps you don't feel that my issues are serious but I do and to the best of my knowledge I pay taxes which that systems happily spends when I am not utilizing them. So forgive me if I don't agree with your point of view. We have become a litigation based society, get on the bus or get run over by it.I filed a complaint to the FTC today regarding the whole SS verification issue and placed a call to Trans Union where the representative had the nerve to tell me that there was a descrepancy on my report regarding the SS# which made them unable to access my account. I responded with "If you are unable to access my account using the information I provided, then how can you send my credit report to creditors who I applied to with the same information?" The rep replies "well, we can't. No one can access your report". So I ask him to explain why I have a credit report my mortgage broker pulled 3 days ago which they provided. He promptly offered to get me a supervisor and during the transition I got conveniently disconnected.I hate these agencies with a vengence. Anyways, I faxed a notice to file suit with a 15 day deadline and my formal FTC complaint attached. We shall see.
brokeinok
congrats on your score jump....i've had some success in writing them back asking why they were able to verify when the other two couldn't, sort of playing them one off the other. what specifically are you disputing? that in itself determines where you go from here, other than the courthouse. i also agree. the laws were put there to protect us and when someone doesn't follow the law, they should be punished. JDB's go to court everyday in attempts to get default judgements against creditors who don't know their rights and who have been scared into a corner after receiving hate mail and never ending phone calls. i have no sympathy for someone trying to sue just to get out of paying an account that is legitimately theirs, but someone who is honestly trying to better themselves (and their FICO) have every right to make use of the judicial system if it comes to that.that said, i think you might be a bit premature in thinking lawsuit. the longer the paper trail, the better the chance you will prevail. greatwhitediver
Broke, does it really matter what I am disputing since I am interested in sueing them over violations of the FCRA regarding their investigative procedure? Most everything I have read here states that simply confirming the reported numbers with the OC/CA is inadequate and that a full and reasonable investigation should take place which invloves verifying the amount of the debt, the accuracy of the reported payments and if challeged, the validity and ownership of the debt by the consumer.I'd be interested in hearing how a procedural violation varies depending on what type of debt or what the debt is for. Perhaps I am barking up the wrong tree. I'm doing so well I definitely don't want to go off misunderstanding something and becoming counter productive. brokeinok
There are different ways to go about fixing things depending on what they are. Some work better for wrong dates, others for account type, etc. And it matters cause it's easier to answer questions and offer advice if you have all the facts about the issue.... and finally, I'm a girl so I'm just naturally nosey!
