Equifax Online Dispute?

The general agreement on this website seems to be do not dispute online. However, I have had success disputing inquiries online with Equifax. You just do it like you have no confirmation number, enter your zip and personal info, and then type in Inquiry 05/05/2005 (or whatever the date is) and the company name. You can do up to six. Search on the forums and you'll find the specific link. They delete them pretty fast. I had a new report in less than two weeks with those inquiries removed. Good luck...

quick TU question...not to get off Equifax. when you dispute online with TU they have two options...which one would be consider as not mine..

here are the options

1. This is not my account, it belongs to a relative or person with similar name/address.

2. I have no knowledge of this collection account

which one is best if you are disputing as not mine...?

Thanks to all that can help

how was your luck?

Equifax has been a tough nut to crack for actual accounts, in my experience. They verified both of my collections (LVNV and Asset) but LVNV mysteriously deleted not long afterward. I disputed some old late payments with all three agencies; TU and EX deleted, but EQ didn't. Removing inquiries was simple and painless using the method described above, but I didn't have very many to start with.

I always use "No knowledge of this account." TU deleted Asset for me when I used that (I think the deletion was due to Asset not responding, as it took the full 30 days for the results to come back).

Lovely... from what I understand you shouldn't dispute actual TL's online. You should only dispute personal information like addresses, names etc, and you can dispute inquiries. However, you should go with mail, CMRRR for TL disputes. Some people here have had luck with the online disputes, but I've read of many people here running into problems with online disputes. Believe me, you need to have a lot of documentation as you go through this process. You typically don't have much to take to court disputing online if it goes that far... Good luck... Also, you would go with number 2... no knowledge of this account.

Online for names, addresses, phone numbers etc.. Everything else (unless you're me cause I don't much care as they drop in a few months) via CMRRR or at least certified. You really want the paper trail. I had a TL drop on 2 of 3 with online as it was so old I figured they wouldn't bother. The third has not responded yet. We'll see.

Yeah me too. Mine were all so old I figured they wouldn't respond. ALL of my deletes thus far have been thru online disputes.

Mine too. There are varying schools of thought on the online vs. paper issue. I don't see anything wrong with doing the first round online, then disputing the stubborn ones again on paper later. (Of course, you have to wait months to avoid having your second dispute deemed frivolous...)
