JSnow
We had overdrawn our checking account by about 300. I thought I had closed this account, and come to find out, it never closed. Anyways, I opened another checking account ASAP (like within a day of finding this out), and now I have to add my DH and hope chexsystems won't she him in there yet.If I pay off the money I owe the bank, will this erase us from chexsystems? Thanks!Jessica
lovebug5
How long was your account in the red? You'd have to have some type of PFD agreement with the bank to guarantee your ChexSystems removal.
JSnow
So when I pay it off, I need to tell them I will PIF if they take me of chexsystems?
lovebug5
You need to have an agreement with them in writing before you provide them with payment, stating that in exchange for payment-in-full of the outstanding balance information regarding this account will be removed from ChexSystems, the account will be considered closed and paid-in-full, etc.
JSnow
Thank you Love! Are they usually willing to do this?I just called my new bank (we have an acct already, but we will be moving to another state in the next few weeks and they don't have my current bank) to add my DH. They will add him within a week. I sure hope they can add him with no problems!
lovebug5
You know, it all depends on the bank and how "good" of a consumer you were with them. If your account had consistent negative history, meaning that you had repeated overdrafts and the balance was regularly negative, they may be less prone to working with you. However, it never hurts to try.
JSnow
We had an account there for 2 years and I was NEVER in the negative until the end. I honestly thought it was closed! But some things kept hitting it that I never knew of. Some CC were on auto pay and it never changed from that bank for some reason.
lovebug5
I'd write them a nice little letter, explaining them the situation...Explaining to them that it's been brought to your attention that you are listed with ChexSystems due to this misunderstanding, and you're willing to pay your balance in full if the bank is in agreement to remove your listing with ChexSystems. Basically, the nicer you are, the better chance you'll have.
JSnow
any idea who I write that letter to?Thnak you so much! This is all foreign to me!
lovebug5
You're going to want to start out with the branch manager at the bank you go to, most likely...If you bank with a large conglomerate, the chances of the President reading your letter are pretty slim. A manager would have more of an ability to work with you.
