Does Sterling ever raise credit limits?

Recommended Posts

Deannaintx just mentioned that her credit line was a little smaller than others have gotten, and mine is also relatively small. (my husband would be saying "That's what she said" right now.) Anyway, I could use all the utilization help I can get. Does anyone know if the Sterling companies (Kay, Jared, J.B. Robinson) will raise limits upon request? And does it have to be in conjunction with buying some expensive item?

I guess I want to have my cake and eat it too - I want to use the credit line very little (I'll buy something small, I guess) but I'd like a bigger limit. I thought maybe someone had personal experience with asking them to raise the limit. Maybe after a certain period of time - like six month or a year of being in good standing? Has a credit line increase ever happened with anyone, re: Sterling, especially without a purchase that strains the limit?

Quit complaining - mine is smaller than both of yours :p

I've got 800.

Seriously though - I think it's possible....call them up and say "I've got my eye on this neclace, it's 5K, but my CL is only 2 (or whatever)...I'd really like this necklace...can my CL be raised so I can purchase this item?

Of course, DON'T. But I'm sure that'd work only if you've actually purchased stuff with your Sterling cards...not just left them @ 0 balance.

hella high utilization at the time of approval...and I already had a Jared account that I bought my fiancee's ring from. That probably screwed my Trifecta up.

I was wondering, your scores are kind of like mine, low one in the low 600s, mid about 620 and high around 640 something and I got $3000 from both Kay and Jared's. I haven't gotten as far as JBR yet.

Actually, do not complain I was granted $400.00 - yes you read that correctly- because I only have a 4 mth history which only has 1 card. So basically I have no history/score.

BUT I did find some info that may be useful:

- they close accts after 24 mths of inactivity, but a transaction at 1 store qualifies as activity for all accts.

- can ask for CLI 10-12 mths after acct is opened if no activity on acct. If there is activity, can ask after 6 mths of good history. Hard pull is not always req'd ymmv.
