eyeball
Does anyone know how long after a discharge the IRS will put a lien on you for unpaid taxes. I had some past due taxs I owed that were not dischargable during the BK7. I am expecting my dischargee any day, I was wondering to they rebill you and give you time to pay or do they slap that lean on you right away. I am planning to do an offer to compromise after the discahrge.
willingtocope
The IRS usually sends out one or two "intent to lein" type letters before they actually hit you with it. It was almost two years after our BK before they got around to it. (Weird...DW owed a little over $5000 and got liened...I owed a little under $5000 and didn't. I had several long talks with IRS agents about this, and the end result was kinda like "okay, so you were insolvent, so we're not going to grab accounts or anything like that...but...if you get a job and get a refund, we'll just hold onto those until its paid."Assuming you haven't already received one, you've probably got some time. It would hurt to be preemptive and call them as some as you get your discharge.
