Below is the letter that Macy's sent me in response to my DV letter I sent to the CA.

Dear Mr. X:

Thank you for contacting us regarding your account.

I am sending this letter to verify the outstanding merchandise balance on the above-referenced account is $52.32 ($26.00 on type 20, $26.32 on type 30). Once this payment has been received, we will credit the late fees and finance charges that had been assessed to the account. In addition, we will direct our credit reporting agencies to report your account as current and to delete any negative information in their files regarding your account.

The account is currently placed with Titan Management Services, LLC and you should contact them at 1-866-374-1759 to make this payment arrangement.

Very truly yours,

Compliance Representative

cc: Titan Management Services, LLC

To me the most important sentence in this letter is the sentence that states that the OC will direct the CA to report the account as current and to delete any negative information in their files regarding my account. (Obviously I am more concerned with having heathly credit! :) )

As far as I can tell, the CA reporting my account as current will not help me because it doesn't tell them not to report to the CB's. The next part where it states that the CA's are to delete any negative information in their files may only help if after the CA has reported to the CB's. I could then dispute it with the CB's as not mine and hope that the CA can no longer verify my info and it would be removed from my CR's. Any thoughts on this?

I am thinking of sending a copy of this letter along with a PFD to the CA. Last month, in December, I checked my CR's and the CA was not reporting and the OC did not report a charge off. The other thing I thought of was to see if I can settle with the OC but I don't think they will, as I have already tried. I would like to also get the OC off my CR's if at all possible.

Any thoughts, information or knowledge is greatly appreciated!

"we will direct our credit reporting agencies to report your account as current and to delete any negative information in their files regarding your account."

They didn't specify that the CA would delete, which you'll need to secure. A copy of the letter from the OC will likely help secure confirmation, in writing, from the CA that they will delete.
