Here is my story:

I had financial trouble in the late 90's and paid everything off by 2003. Since then I have maintained perfect credit and have your typical home/auto loans. I just pulled my report and saw there are two remaining items that total about $500. The "Balance" dates are different for each report (some show 2005 and 2006) which is incorrect. I just want to find a way to clear them off my report so this is why I joined this site. From what I have seen there is a lot of great information here from informed people. I find that message boars are great for obtaining realistic information.

Thanks

Not quite enough info, but sounds like you paid a CA and it shows paid?

These will stay on report for 7 - 7-1/2 years from the DOFD, or you may have changed that if PIF.

Give a timeline, what, when, where??

Thanks for your answer. Here is what they show on my CR

Equifax Experian TransUnion

Date Opened: 01/2000 01/2000 01/2000

Balance Date: 01/2005 10/2003 01/2005

Balance Amount: $0 $0

High/Limit: $203 $809 $203

Account Status: Not Rated As Agreed Not Rated

Past Due Amount: $0 $0 $0

Comments: LAST REPORTED DELINQUENCIES: 02/2002=R5,01/2002=R5,12/2001=R5 CREDIT CARD SETTLEMENT ACCEPTED ON THIS ACCOUNT ACCOUNT LEGALLY PAID IN FULL FOR LESS THAN THE FULL BALANCE LAST REPORTED DELINQUENCIES: 10/2003=R ,08/2003=R SETTLEMENT ACCEPTED ON THIS ACCOUNT

This is what I want to remove off of my CR. I would first like to find out if the "balance date" above is when the 7-7 1/2 starts.

From some of the information on the boards it sounds like Calling the CRA is the best way to proceed.

A PIF may have reset the dates. Call the CRA and ask what they show is the DOFD on the account. That will answer the question.

Others

NEVER pay a CA without a real good letter from them, in writting, that they will delete the TL. Should really avoid paying CA's all together, but never without a PFD.

CAP one will hang until the bitter end, so may be stuck until at least October with this.

Since it's PIF'ed anyway, dispute as "Not Mine" with CRA's and see what happens. Since they were paid they may not bother to verify, but CRAP One always does.

CRAP could be a problem for you. If you PIFed them, and brought current, they could have re-set the date. Hard to tell without entire history timeline.

Dispute everything and see what happens. Costs nothing and often, especially on old PIFed accounts they won't bother to verify and poof, they are gone.

Yes, "not mine" to start with.

If verified, go back after dates, wrong amounts etc....

See what happens with the dispute, and if verified, call and ask for the DOFD on the reports. CRA's have that info, but never (almost) list on reports.
