A year ago, I paid a small debt to a collector, who had promised to delete it from reporting once paid. Well, they didn't remove it, after I disputed the entry several times, and it came back verified.

So, I finally made contact with the BBB and filed a complaint against the Collector, To my amazement, I received a positive reply from a General manager, who apologized and related he would request the deletion of the entry's from all the CR's, and even sent me a letter...

But, recently Equifax who appears to be the only one reporting this debt, updated as verified as of 3/2008 ??

Question: if the collector makes a request for the CRA to remove the entry, does the CRA have to comply ?

Question: Does the letter give me enough to dispute the entry with Equifax directly ?

Your thoughts appreciated ....

IMO the CRA's must delete if directed to do so by the DF. As to the second question though, from everything that I've read here, anything like that you send the CRA's is ignored due to the sheer number of fraudulant letters they receive.

Understand, but, since the CRA is to verify the information contained in the letter I received from the CA as being true in content, shouldn't the letter suffice ??

By the CRA ignoring the letter, IMHO, it is'nt properly verifying the entry they continue to show on my CR....and therefore, should be considered a Violation of the FDCPA, as improper verification.
