Do satisfied judgments hurt credit score

dispute the one filed in 97 as 'OBSOLETE'. it should have come off by end of 2007.

When were the other judgements filed? (granted) The date satisfied or un-paid has nothing to do with when it comes off, it is just the status of the judgement.

from another forum:

Most judgment creditors (myself included) have little or no

'axe to grind' by continuing a negative report with the CRA's after the judgment has been paid. Usually the notice to the CRA's is mainly a 'tool' to enforce payment.

I suggest that you contact the judgment creditor and do the following:

1) Have the original judgment creditor send you a copy of the signed "Satisfaction of Judgment", AND

2) Ask him/her to contact the CRA's and have the judgment notice removed, or at least noted as "Paid as agreed". Unless you really pissed him or her off, they should not have a problem doing this.

Finally, contact the original court and verify YOURSELF that the "Satisfaction of Judgment" has been filed with them.

I have the docket sheets from the court

The first one I need to get removed from the CR

Originally filed in 1997

the docket sheet says

Judgment released 8/23/2005 case file destroyed due to SOL

I have to file a motion to vacate on the two that were obtained in 2005 because i was on active duty.

Actually, this is somewhat incorrect. If the judgment has been satisfied, the judgment creditor would have sent you a copy of the satisfaction. The satisfaction you need to file yourself at the courthouse. Until you file that satisfaction, the judgment will show as being unpaid. If you never got one, you can make a request from the juggment creditor for one but you will be charged about $50 for it. Then courthouse will also charge you a small fee to file the satisfaction at the courts. I paid about $5 for when I did mine.

As for the satisfied judgments hurting your reports. I actually had a 20 pts boost but then again I had satisfied 3 judgments at the time. Again, it is different for everyone, some people may have drops or boost in their scores depending on how the satisfied judgments report. What you can do about the satisfied judgments is talk to the OC, some may agree to a Vacate of the paid judgment as long as you haven't pissed them off. I have a couple of judgments that I pissed them off but I'm going to try the vacate anyways. The judgment creditor has nothing to do with removing a judgment from your CRs. As long as the court continues to hold a file and you have your public records collectors out there like Lexus Nexus, they will continue to report unless the adjustment to the judgment is taken care of by the courts themselves.
