Am I pushing my luck with the credit union here??? LOL!!!

Recommended Posts

Opened a savings account with my local credit union and was approved for a creidt card with a great limit the next day. Am looking to purchase a vehicle soon and am curious...should I apply now or wait to establish a bit of payment history with the credit union 1st before seeking a car loan?

Not sure if it's wise to apply for both in a 1 week period. Any suggestions? :)++

If you can do it, do it. There is nothing like building a good relationship with your CU by using their products, especially if they are willing to finance you.

Yeah, but we haven't discussed a car loan yet. Only the credit card...

Guess my question is: should I apply now while my credit score is in the upper 660s

Or wait until I've made a few credit card payments to show I'm a good customer?

unless you are expecting your fico to go up during the time, don't see how a few payments will make much of a difference. I am sure they are judging you by your report right now and a few months wont change much

If all else fails, give them a call. Usually they are willing to discuss your options with you.

Apply for it now while it's up. I'm going through the same thing now with NFCU. I was approved for my first card then applied for the 2nd card on Sunday and did the auto refinance today, first payment isn't even due yet. I use the savings account for direct deposits my from my medical reimbursements. Don't really use my checking or savings accounts there for anything else but a savings account.
