EQ Drops 52 points on a day w/ no alerts

Recommended Posts

I have fielded questions like this for others, assuring that SOMETHING must have happened that they are overlooking and giving possibilities to look for.

Well today it happened to me, and there are NO CHANGES to my EQ report. I pulled 2 new reports today and cross-checked them with yesterday, not to mention I only have one baddie on there anyway, so another would be obvious.

My util is way under 10% like it always has been.

WTF????

Today is my Birthday (nice gift eh'?), you think now my credit is being compared to other 36 year olds and sucks worse???? Did I scorecard jump??

In fact, I've dropped from 723 to 647, almost 75 points in the last month all said and done, some due to 4 inq's. Everything else has improved or gotten older.

You got it: scorecard jump, for sure.

Have you recently opened new accounts, or different type of accounts?

The 1 baddie that you have. Did it hit a milestone? (1 year, 2 years, 3 years...) The thought here being you had a recent baddie, now you have an old baddie, let's no longer compare you to people who only have recent baddies. Let's instead contrast you with those who only have old baddies or no baddies.

Really bad timing for a scorecard jump... I have to apply for next year's school loans by May 1st. Damnit I HAD my required 720 and didn't intend to lose it by any means!

yes I have 9 accounts open this year, but of those reporting they have been reporting for at least 3 months or more now and scores were reasonably sustained.

leslie,

that is when you are compared to a "different" pool of people, like if u had collections and a BK but nothing else bad you were threw into that bk collection pool, and that is the scorecard u was on, but when the bk comes off and the collections come off you are in a pool with people that has obtained new credit if you have obtained new credit that is! Kinda like look he isn't the ugliest out of this bunch thing...

And clever,

This score crap sucks. my ex dropped from new acct's and high util on two of my cards went to a 619 and has stayed...... I say high util? Give me more of a limit lol, I am using my 500 walmart card for a blu ray and my 2800 0 int for 12 mos for my tv, but i only have 1742 on the 2800 and 368 on the 500 lol.... I don't even care anymore, i am going to buy what I can afford and let it ride

At least you're immediately empowered to fix that though! Much better to know the cause so you can deal with it.

yea, i understand man, i am missing tonight at work that will put me behind a hair.. Hopefully i can work all week comming up! Anyway I am sure it was just because, also give it about 2 weeks it may come back up because i have had all my scores go down and then start raising up and then they got to 675 to 680 across these were fakos' but they still came up, and when the new acct's started showing my high util the ex went to 650, and my tu stayed at 675, and my ex went to 619 what a rip these scores are!

  • 2 weeks later...

Wow that was only 10 days ago???!!! Anyway, I got my points back today for whatever reason. Still not at peak levels but it went back up from 647 to 699 today. This time it coincided with my baddie (Afni) updating info... supposedly less harmful to me now for whatever reason. Also Chase started reporting and that didn't even trigger an alert.

Come on! 1 more lousy point!!

For a while there, my EQ FAKO was exactly correct though!

I'm getting there too.

Trying to hold off another 2 months before I pull myfico again.

I'm glad I have another 2 months or so before I pull. I know they've gone down somewhat due to usage and two more cards reporting. In two months my usage will be down considerably (right now it's at 36%, yikes) and all of the tradelines I added in December and January will be at or over 6 months.

With that I can hope to get TU over 700 as well. I suspect that it would take an act of God and Congress to get EX over 700, but if it's in the 650-660 range I'll be happy.

Taste that 700 club!!!

I was soaking in it before a series of unexplained drops! See my post on EQ HITS 723! That was a good short period of time. I was far enough in I didn't think I'd ever see 600's again. Then Houston Funding reported and ran away with a single phone call and my score has never been the same again.

I'm bouncing around like crazy right now too, and I'm figuring that I'm going to be for a little while. Thought that the 3+/6+ months of positive reporting and the under 7% utilization would really help me out...But I must've scorecard jumped. When the baddies dropped like flies at the same time that the positive reporting was hitting, I didn't find anything else that would've caused such a drastic drop in scores.

Next official pull is in June. We shall see. :)
