effingnewguy
on a few medical chargeoffs totaling $700. I told them that I would be willing to come down today to pay the debt in full. They said I needed to deal with the CA due to the age of the accounts.Any suggestions?
stefdr
First, how old are the accounts and when are they due to fall off your reports? If you are wanting to PIF, contact the OC and have the bills pulled back out of collections, and let them know that you are willing to settle them in full, but only if it is a PFD. A paid collection account will just tank your scores.
FICO330
I agree try to get the PFD paid collection wouldn't help you any at all. I personally think medical bills should be easy to get deleted once paid I mean there medical I can see that credit cards, loans, etc shouldn't but medical is another thing esspecially depending on the illness you might not be able to work and pay off the debt in "their" timeframe. Nascar3
Personally, I have never had success with getting a PFD on a medical bill that has gone to collections. Neither the OC nor the CA has ever agreed to it. I have always dealt with them just like any other collection. AND I have successfully gotten rid of them. My advice is, DV the CA and dispute with the CRA. Chances are they won't respond, especially if it is an older acct. Or maybe they won't mark the account as disputed on your credit report. Go from there.
