Chase Freedom approved!!!

Recommended Posts

Okay, I was just checking my Chase account. I have a BP/Chase card with a $1,000 limit. I look further down on the page. I don't have my browser window fully open. There's a listing for a Chase Freedom account, with a $7,000 credit limit. I applied for this card about 3 or 4 weeks ago, along with a Lowe's card application. I got approved for the Lowe's (just $750, but that's alright).

Last Friday a lady from Chase called me early in the morning right before I was leaving for work, with a lot of questions about my TU credit report. She noted I was disputing several things and she questioned me about the old repo. I was honest with her about how I got in trouble paid everyone off and I'm disputing that I owe the car finance company anything on the repo and they must not have a lot of confidence in what they think I owe because they've never come after legally me over it. I figured I screwed up big. Maybe, I should have told her some story about how I intended to pay the finance company. Well, I guess Chase only cares that I pay them and my current cards because they've given me 7K!!!

I'm so excited this is the highest CL I've ever gotten. Even years ago when my credit was good my CL was only 4,500. Come to think of it, that was Chase too.

Congratulations - it feels so good when your hard work pays off!

Yep. I'm feeling a little better about things. For a bit there it seemed like my scores finally going up from high 500s-low 600s to high 600s-low 700s wasn't going to make a damn bit of difference. But, now that I have at least one decent high limit card I can relax. I really don't care if I get any more cards as long as I can get decent limits with the ones I have. Which will probably mean "firing" a few of them after a time.

I think Chase has a crush on you... they certainly don't have eyes for anyone else!!

Well I got my pathetic $500 on the Disney... but they never bothered to allow ME to make excuses!!!!

Yeah, they like me, they really like me. It's strang because I can't get Citi or BOA to give me the time of day. To be fair I haven't tried them since my scores have been up. I wouldn't have tried Chase, but those Freedom card cash rebates were just too tempting.

Mags, Sweet. Can we go shopping now? We can do a blot more damage with that as opposed to isic's lane bryant card.

Don't tempt me. I'm trying to behave. But, yeah we could do lots more damage with this card. I'm still grumpy about not getting Lane Bryant.

Way to go Mag send some of that luck up this way!!

Sending Chase approval vibes to Tigggers.

I don't know why Chase likes me, I'm just grateful. I'm also bewildered that Citi and BOA dislike me. WaMu, I understand, I had a charge off of a Providian card (though it was fricking 6 1/2 years ago and I ultimately PIF).

Mags, did LB send you the 10% coupon? I think when they pulled my report that a CA had just reported a bogus account which was removed. But oh well, I'll wait for a bit until I reapply.

I guess I could do a recon.

Yeah, I got the coupon. It was small comfort. I don't really need much of anything right now. The DF would chock me if I bought more clothes. I did a lot of serious clothes shopping in January and February.

Congrats Mag!! $7k CL puts ya in the big leagues now.

That's weird. I had a pretty good couple of charge offs w/Provid that just hit SOL and were never paid, yet WaMu gave me a card w/$3k limit when my scores were only 635 or so w/a couple baddies.

WaMu must like me the way Chase likes you!

(wait till WaMu gets to KNOW me...)

No, I don't have any bankruptcy. It might have been better for my credit years ago if I had declared bankruptcy.

Chase has given me three cards including the Circuit City card. The BP Visa and the CC card have CL of only $1000. Though I have hopes for a CLI on the BP Visa card in a couple of months. I probably won't get anything on the CC card since I haven't used it and really don't have any plans to use it anytime soon.

I don't get it either. My charge-off for them was for only about $1200. And I ultimately paid it. I had a similar situation with Cap One and they've given me and card and a CLI in the first 2-3 months (from the special promo they recently had) with another coming soon.

Chase is currently my favorite credit card. They were on my **** list for a while because a little over a year ago I got slammed by a couple CAs trying to re-age some really old debts and Chase wasted no time almost doubling my APR. My credit had been good for a few years before that but even after I finally got it all straightened out Chase would only lower my APR by 1%. I was considering canceling my card but prior to this, had received pretty good customer service from Chase and canceling a card that was a few years old, with an $8000 limit and $0 balance would have only hurt me. Then last week I contacted them about possibly upgrading my card to a Chase Freedom card or lowering my APR and they immediately did both. Now I have a Chase Freedom Cash Rewards card with an $8000 limit and 8.24% interest rate.

Just remembered the other thing that was bugging me about Chase. For a while there, everytime I tried to log into the website, it would say I was on a new computer and had to verify my identity.
