smurfette in nyc
I just loved the comment on default judgements. Just goes to show how these guys operate."Then again, those default judgments save the day !"xSteaminxThis is a great reminder that a big part of winning a battle in court, should you find yourself in such a predicament, is to always SHOW UP! The CA's and lawyers all want an easy win, by having the debtor not appear--always appear in court when you're supposed to!

Flyingifr
They have been pissing and moaning about me and the boards I populate for years. Just do a search for my screen name over there - "Dr Tax" and see for yourself.
StressPot
I read there quite a bit and have never posted. Spyboy is actually a consumer poster that none of the collectors like. I believe he posted that in a facetious way.Not that I defend anyone, I just like to ensure the facts are straight. If I am wrong, I am sure someone (Flyingifr?) will correct me.StressPot

LadynRed
Freeadvice isn't a collection board ! I post over there quite a bit and have now for a number of years. There are collectors there, true, which is one of the reasons I stick my nose in, to counter them. Most of them are not all that bad over there, we've had our disagreements and the board has it's share of trolls come and go.
StressPot
The only two people I respect on Freeadvice is Chien and Debt Guy. On the other hand, Debtcollector' is a total moron and he gives most consumers a verbal thrashing and some incorrect information (surprised he hasn't been banned). I read there and do not post - I really feel sorry for people that do post there and are not in the know.StressPot Edit: From all of my reading, I would disagree though. I do believe it is not a collector's forum, but it seems to me that collectors and collection attornies are the only ones giving advice. If a consumer (no matter how knowledgable) posts they get ripped to shreds. Free advice - you get what you pay for so buyer beware.
Flyingifr
Stresspot - CIC, DB, CN and a whole lot other consumer boards are free. Some boards are very good, others not so good. It's up to the consumer to separate the good from the not so good. The only Board that charges that I am aware of is Bill Bauer's and I wouldn't give a counterfeit penny for the value of his advice. Feel violated
I usually go to FreeAdvice and say outrageous things to get DC stirred up.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thats in in a nutshell why inside arm is no longer a website I visit. They finally got tired of idiots like you, they were a collectors board, and they threw out legitimate and illegitimate consumers equally because you brought nothing but pollution to the table. Now both sides are even further apart than before, we can't find any common ground, and whats new. What happened to making the world better with better laws?
Amerikaner83
Whoa - time out.Fizzle1979 is not an idiot. InsideARM is, has been, and always will be a debt collectors board. CIC is and always will be a consumer-oriented board. With different boards comes different lines of thinking and opinions on "what's right". I post occasionally on freeadvice, and I've seen some of Fizzle's postings - have not found a single inaccuracy in any of his postings yet. And he does not really say outrageous things... not *that* outrageous anyhow. DC is wound so tightly that I'm surprised he hasn't been banned either - he berated me and StressPot becuase we were giving accurate advice to a fellow Washingtonian. Just becuase HE didn't like "us know-nothings" interfering with his pristine advice (which i believe was to pay it unquestioningly even though it was out of SOL, without verification of any kind, while hte CA was violating all over the place.....etc).Chien and Debt guy have my respect as well as Dkatz on Freeadvice. I have crossed with them, and it was a respectful debate.
Feel violated
What I reacted so strongly to is the generic say outrageous things. And now you say the person who brags about saying outrageous things does not actually say outrageous things. The point being, others brag about it, and do it, and it ends up getting the legitimate and illegitimate counter arguments thrown out equally. At least in my opinion, its poorly written laws that encourage much of the abuses. Sooner or later those laws will change. We can only hope those changes will be for the better and some of the abuses will reduce. And on the collector side, I see most of those abuses coming from junk debt buying CA's. It was my hope if a wedge can be driven there, more honest collectors would be pushing to see new laws that ended abusive practices by junk debt buyers because it threatened their entire industry. Instead low minded name calling has simply united all debt collectors.
Fizzle1979
I wasn't talking about ARM, I was talking abotu FA. And when I said I say outrageous things...I mean to DC they are outrageous. He believes no one would ever send a DV letter, it's pointless. So when I give someone advice on FA, and tell them to send a DV letter, he flies off the handle. Couple voices of reason there but getting debt advice from a debt collector? Please! It would be like a man on fire, asking the guy who set him on fire for water and the guy who set him on fire was giving him gasoline. That DC guy has called people deadbeats and even told one guy who was getting foreclosed on, to start looking up local moving companies and provided him with links to companies in the OP's state. Fizzle1979
I've reported DC twice now to the mods of FA for doing stuff I honestly feels violates the rules of that forum and everytime they just edit his personal attack on a poster and leave the advice part.Oh they also don't have a rating system like here and they do not allow PMing on that forum. StressPot
Wow, that's cold. And that is not the worst of it. He will find any reason to tear into anyone. His kind call people debtors. True they are, but I like Consumer much better. We are all in debt to some extent right? Fizzle1979 and others are right - he ilk is the main "advice" coming from that sight, and he breaks the rules constantly. His 'clan' is still there though enforcing their thoughts and screwing consumers.Fizzle1979: You can PM there, it just isn't turned on automatically. Their setup is a little different and took me quite a few to find out how to turn it on.It's not a user friendly sight - that coming from a computer junkie/techie.StressPot p.s. Thanks for the support Amerikaner83!
Fizzle1979
Once I figure out how to turn on PM. I'm going to start posting telling the OP how to turn on their PM and tell them to come here.
StressPot
Ok I just read a few more posts on FreeAdvice and well - I only respect Chien now. As far as the other guy, I didn't think he was part of DC's clan. His most recent postings have changed my mind.I may stop reading there all together, but it's still a great way to see exactly how consumers are treated if you talk to a CA on the phone.StressPot
