tonypilot7
I recently got some luv from EQ and my score went from 606 to 689. Since then I have had no luv from the creditors that I have applied for because none of them want to pull my EQ report. I am considering putting a freeze on my TU and EX reports so that they don't have any other choice... Is this a good strategy? are there any downsides to doing this? betam4x
If you put a security freeze on your credit report most creditors will flat out deny you for credit.
Amerikaner83
It's the "Merkurfan theory" - freeze your two worst reports, and force them to pull something else. Sometiems it works, sometimes not.If you put a security freeze on your credit report most creditors will flat out deny you for credit.I doubt it's that cut-and-dried. tonypilot7
If a report is frozen, they can't even do inquiries, right? My main concern is racking up a bunch of unnecessary inqs when the creditor pulls the wrong report like they have done lately..
betam4x
No, they can't do inqs. That becomes an issue. I had CitiFinancial and GEMB both try to pull my credit. Because my EX report is frozen they couldn't pull ANYTHING.
isislc
But if you go and reapply to OCs with past denials, they WILL be able to pull your report. Basically, if they have already gotten on to your report somehow or a CA owns an account that is on your report, they will all be able to access the CR regardless of the freeze. The freeze only affects those that have never pulled your report or have no invested interest in any of the accounts on your CR.
