mycorrado
I have an old late on a Mortgage dating back to 03/2003.I once did work it out with the OC and have a letter clearing the late but somehow it is back on the report. When I call the OC they don't even have records anymore since it was refinanced a long time ago.Would it be worth disputing it? I would worry that they would delete it altogether lowering my score somehow. I have many other mortgages and history so I am not sure of the impact of it going away. Also, what would be best in this case? online/phone or letter? I was going to do a letter enclosing the original correction letter from the bank. Thanks
Champion80
Yeah...you are treading a thin line there, if there are no records and you now have a new mortgage...this one may be deleted if you dispute with the CB's as innacurate and ask to have it changed. They may try to verify with the mortgage company, then if they do not, they may delete the file entirely, maybe someone else can chime in on this one as well that had this experience..I do not think that late, especially if that is all you have it effecting you all that much anyway, so I say not worth the downside consequences..thats my vote!! good luck
TheRoadBack
If you have 1 late from 03 it isn't hurting your score much at all. I fthat is your only bad tl then I would leave it alone. If it is not then work on the others that are more damging and recent. Have a good weekend!
mycorrado
Agreed, I am working on my most recent lates (2007), which matter more. The thing is, I was also trying to reduce the number of accounts that had been delinquent to just a few. I have gotten score recommendations before (from scorewatch etc) that I had too many negative accounts..I will leave it alone for now and see what happens, I have two goodwill letters out to executives to address 3x2007 lates. What I've fixed so far:1) Re-aged Unpaid Collections past SOL = GONE2) Two lates for 2007 off3) one inquiry B*gone4) new credit card denied online and being reconsidered to increase credit to debt ratio.5) number of negative accounts dropped from 5 to 3Any suggestions for a small installment loan? I don't have any asides from mortgages..
twister
I am unsure of how to ask for a few lates to be removed. I have an account with Capital One and Credit One that have a four month period of lates due to my lay off from work. Any ideas? Thanks

Any ideas?ThanksCall them and ask.The worst thing they could do is say no.If you are nice and explain your situation they may be willing to work with you.It will also help if since then you haven't had any more late's and before that period your account was in good standing.
