Just wrote a money order out to a CA.

*shrugs* My debt, they followed the letter of every law, and they were nice about it the whole time.

I feel they earned their money.

i hope you have this good feeling if they turn around and try to collect more or screw your credit rating up.:-)

This is, well, refreshing...I think? Do you mind sharing the name of the CA, since the majority we hear about on this forum are so terrible.

Well not to start a flame war, I will state my beliefs and those who agree, it is good and those that do not agree, it is good.

I believe:

1. Debt repair is not about learning how to get rid of real debts.

2. This community is not about teaching you how to "get out" of your legit debts.

3. I consider those that are here for the above two reasons are really the "deadbeat debtors" as we are all called upon occassion.

4. I came here because I was tired of being told that I had to follow their rules, while they could change the rules at any time.

5. I consider most CA's to be the bottom feeders of the world. I have dealt with 7 CA's in the past year. I have taken 4 to court, 2 vanished before I could take them to court and then there is this one.

6. The referanced debt is real. I could have and should have paid it. It is on my CR, as I deserve to have it on my CR. The CA was cordial in all communications and perhaps more importantly followed the letter of the law and the "intent" of the law at all times.

7. Someone that performs their job in a professional manner deserves to be rewarded for such performance.

8. As for them trying to come back and collect again, *grins* I now have learned to keep very good records and I will still know how to fill out a complaint for Federal Court.

9. If the CA's that legitimately try to follow the law, are not rewarded with some success, there is no reason for them to try. Then we have created another bottomfeader.

I will not name the CA, as that is private information. I hope I have not offended anyone, but will not be overly concerned either way. This is what I believe.

I fully agree with your no. (2 & 3).

I believe, and my NACA lawyers agrees that my experiences typify collection industry activities in that none of the CA 'accounts' in my name represent valid debts.

My problems are all charge offs made illegally in my name by medical and other orgs. that use the junk debt industry to squeeze just a little more $$$ out of a transaction.

I found a 'debt' on my TL last year. When I contacted the CA, they were quite courteous. They sent me 'real' validation, and I was able to quickly identify through my insurance carrier that it ws a duplicate billing and had been paid. The 'nice' CA sent me a letter confirming that and removed the

TL entry.

Naive as I was at the time, the fact that the OC and CA had never sent a Dunning letter in advance of screwing my credit didn't clue me in.

Anyway, when the TL appeared again I send them a DV, including their own

letter stating the 'debt' was paid.

Despite that, they've refused to validate and remove the false entry. That takes a lot of b*lls, and is based on their knowlege that it will be very difficult

for me to address it and they're not in much danger if I do. (I'm pretty certain they're wrong about that but more on that later!) Most people simply pay, as it's easier.

So, I totally agree with the basic rule, 'never pay a CA.'

I don't agree with no. 7. 'Just because a leech is polite and professional, that doesn't mean it gets to drink my blood" (- an attempt at a humorous illustration.)
