63redvet
Am I just totally paranoid or is there a p.i. watching my house? He has been sitting a couple of houses down from me for several days in his car with out of state plates. Called the cops and they said that they have received a report from an investigator that he would be in the area but gave no more info. Cops wont do anything because it is not illegal to sit in your car on a public street.I have three large outstanding CC debts that have been written off by OC Credit card company and turned over to CA's. I have some assets in my name and I wonder if they are investigating me? This happened to anybody else?

Everything they need to know about you they can find on-line.
LeslieR
I agree - that kind of surveillance is not cheap and I can't imagine the average CA would need or want to engage in it for the "average" debt. I'd be more worried about what your neighbors are up to. Keep us posted on the intrigue!
Focus2069
Heh...i would start to be worried if the debt was to a mobster or something.

AISLE4
Why don't you walk up to the car (in daylight with other people around) and ask the guy? Follow him when he leaves. Take pictures. That's what I'd do, but I like a good caper.

zfire
Had something similar a few years ago going on.I called the cops, and the car left.. Next night it was back.I was so paranoid.Morning after these two total Jack@-- were beating on my door. Were looking for some people, very nasty, accused me of being on of them, asked if I could prove who I was, I said I didn't have to...this was after they quickly flashed ID and identified themselves as Federal Marshalls. Slammed the door in their faces...THE END... The neighbors mom told me later that a drug dealer used to live in my house. Why they bothered me I have no idea. Our cars lived in the driveway. Real simple to run the tags. ANYWAY...my suggestion, march up to the car and ask them wtf??
Magdalen77
I was going to say like Zfire. The last time we had an unmarked car sitting on the street for hours and days it ended up that one of the neighbors was dealing. Major dealing, like supplying most of the state. StuckInTheMiddle
I've only heard of credit related 'stakeouts' having to do with car repossessions. But I definitely like the idea of a good caper!
CarolinaBlueEyes
I doubt this is for you.. sounds more like a drug situation or a cheating spouse... like the rest said I would just ASK.. what can the guy do?
CarolinaBlueEyes
One other thing like the poster said.. there would be no reason... you own a house.. they can see that online.. they get your credit report online.. your job.. there would be nothing someone could find out sitting in a car they couldnt get online in a credit report or a GIS survey. trust me creditors wouldnt take the time or money.. remember you are one in thousands of accounts
scotterz
When I worked at the police dept we had these called in all the time. These investigators 99% of the time were from insurance companies that were trying to find people out on workers comp or going through car accident law suits doing stuff they shouldn't like mowing the lawn and jumping on trampolines. Amerikaner83
Run their plates...take pictures back at them...set up a telescope and "surveillance" of them:p Make THEM paranoid!Seriously though - don't worry. I'd just go up one day while walking the dog and ask nicely "can I help you with something"?
